About this Cook
I've just learned to cook since a young age. Our family of five girls and five boys enabled us to all take our turns cooking in the kitchen. Over the years I've just kept trying new things and really enjoy watching the cooking network to learn new things.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy comfort foods, but enjoy grilling anything on the barbeque. My favorite thing to cook is fried chicken simmered in a homemade gravy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
No real traditions, we just enjoy passing on good recipes when we find them.
My cooking triumphs
I have tasted many different teriyaki recipes over the years. I believe my own recipe that I've created is truly one of the best I have tasted - any of the people that I have served it to believe it is great also.
My cooking tragedies
I made my first blackberry pie at age 10 for a family function. My four sisters and I were all making different kinds of pies and were competing against one another. My crust turned out beautiful. However, I read the recipe wrong when it came to adding flour for the thickening agent. Instead of 2 tablespoons of flour, I added 2 cups. Imagine cutting into cheese, that's what my pie was like!

Spicy Southwestern Slaw
I love this recipe! My family enjoys this with tortilla chips more than salsa. To make it a bit easier without all the slicing and dicing, I use packaged cabbage with the carrots, etc. already in it...this saves time on chopping.
