Chicken Milano

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2014
Everyone in my family loved this, even my picky kid cleared his plate. I did make some changes, as usual. Like others. I lightly pounded out the chicken breasts, then floured them with seasoned flour. I browned them inbutter and olive oil, then took them out, added the garlic and some shallots, then the tomatoes. I deglazed the pan with chicken stock and a bit of Sherry, then reduced it for about 15 minutes. Then I added the cream and cooked it down a bit, thenadded the chicken back into the pan along with some artichoke hearts, and added some fresh parmesan. I let that bubble away whilemy pasta cooked. Added the fresh basil before serving. I did think that there wasn't enough save, but I don't think youreally need to double it, I will just add a bit extra cream and broth next time. And there definitely will be a next time!!

Creamy White Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2013
This was really good, and so easy! I added too much wine though, so it was a bit overpowering...but that was totally my own fault. I also added garlic powder and some chopped artichoke hearts to go with the ravioli I made. I would make this again for sure, but not be as heavy handed on the wine!

Pan-Seared Chicken Breasts with Shallots

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2013
This was fantastic! Everyone in my family enjoyed this one...shocker!! Usually my uber picky son finds something not to like...not this time! And, when he accidentally dropped a piece on the floor, the cat came and ate it, then sat at foot of my kids chairs, meowing & waiting for more to fall...he never does that, so this was a hit even with the cat haha...oh, I did dredge the lightly pounded chicken breasts in seasoned flour (garlic, salt, white pepper) then I browned them in the pan, took them out, added the shallots and some mushrooms, the wine, etc, and then when the sauce was ready, I put the chicken back in with the sauce, and let it all cook together for a few minutes. Served it with rice pilaf & broccoli. next time I will try it over pasta, as others suggested, that sounded very good, but I was already planning on making spaghetti and meatballs the next night, so I opted for rice this time. Great addition to the recipe box& I will be making this again soon.

Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: May 23, 2013
These were really good. I added pecans and diced up apples to the butter brown sugar and cinnamon mixture. I made them the night before, and used a 9x13 pyrex dish. The next morning while they were baking I made a cream cheese frosting. Everyone in the family loved these! I will be making them again for sure!

Mini OREO Surprise Cupcakes

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2013
These were so yummy! My son wanted vanilla cake, so I just added cocoa to the cream cheese mixture, and made chocolate frosting. They were a hit with my family, and both of my neighbors as well. Definitely making these again!!

Best Marinara Sauce Yet

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2013
This is great. It is now my go to pasta sauce, so easy to make. I use red wine instead of white, and I add basil and a pinch of sugar to offset the sometimes bitter taste of the canned tomatoes. We like chunky marinara, so I dont usually run this through the food processor. I also add a couple of extra cans of either diced tomatoes or crushed tomatoes, sometimes one of each.

Robbi's M&M Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2013
these were good.... I did what some others did and used butter instead of shortening...although shortening does have its uses in my kitchen, in my cookies is one place it absolutely doesn't belong, especially that much!! to the reviewer who said these tasted like store bought, it's the shortening...they use it cause it's cheaper than butter

Tender Pork Spare Ribs

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
I agree with other reviewers who say that the method was good, but flavors were only ok. The fajita seasonings ( I used Fiesta brand, as suggested) made the ribs spicy!! fine for my husband and I...not for our kids....they were way too spicy for them. sauce never thickened as others stated.I added some bbq sauce from my fridge to make it thicker. would not use this spice combo again, but maybe the method, although par boiling and then cooking low and slow works just as effectively.

Smothered Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2013
this was very good, but I did make some changes. I marinated the chicken in a homemade bbq sauce (basically a mixture of a few things I had in the fridge) then put them on a grill pan, browned them and popped them in the oven while I cooked the bacon, caramelized the onions, sauteed some mushrooms, whipped up some mashed potatoes and some steamed broccoli and carrots (which I sauteed after steaming with some red bell peppers and onions). I layered the bacon, onions, mushrooms & cheese on the chicken and broiled for a minute till the cheese was melted, then topped with some of the marinade mixed with some honey mustard (I had put some marinade to the side before pouring on chicken). this was enjoyed by all...Will make again, although it's definitely not the healthiest way to make chicken breasts...

Beef Brisket with Chipotle Tomatillo Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2011
I thought ( and so did my hubby and his friend, who are both foodies) that this was great!! I used a chuck roast instead of a brisket because it was on sale, and I cooked it in my crock pot. I did sautee the onions and garlic first, and seasoned and seared the meat as well before putting it in my crockpot on top of a layer of thick sliced potatoes and onions (you can remove them later if you want, but we kept it in the with shredded meat and it was awesome). I blended all of the ingredients following the recipe exactly except that i used 2 cans of tomatillo sauce instead of whole tomatillos and also i used dos equis amber to replace the water ( you could also use beef broth too, which I did add a bit of as well). Cooked for 5-6 hours. We made home made corn tortillas and black beans and rice. Finished off the rest of the Dos Equis...Awesome dinner!!! I will definately be making this again!!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2011
I have been making this recipe for quite a while now, it is definately my go to chocolate cake. The only real addition that I make is that I always substitute coffee for the water, it gives a nice rich flavor to the chocolate. Also, I sometimes use different kinds of chocolate, like grating German chocolate into the batter as well as the chocolate chips, or using dark chocolate and milk chocolate chips.

Raspberry Chocolate Torte

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2010
This is delicious, easy and looks great. I made this for a girlfriend's birthday...my group of girlfriends and I LOVE the 'nuts and berries' after dinner drink (vodka, baileys, frangelico and chambord) so, I made it into a cake...I used a dark chocolate cake mix, made it following the directions, but using coffee instead of water and added hazelnut extract. I torted the cakes, and make a frangelico simple syrup that I put into a squirt bottle and squirted all over the cake...i added baileys to the filling and used fresh raspberries and the chambord component...EVERYONE complemented on its looks ( we brought it into a restaurant and other patrons kept ohhinh and ahhing and asking where we had ordered it from!!) and the taste was even better! the whole group ( about 15) loved it!! I will definately be making this again!!

Yummy Quiche

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2010
This was great! I have made plenty of different quiches in the past but nothing like this and I am SO glad I found this recipe!! It was a huge hit at my brunch! I finely diced onions and put them in raw with the green chilies, bacon and I used pepperjack cheese for a little extra heat. Also, when I made my egg mixture I put salt, pepper, garlic powder and hot sauce in with 6 eggs and milk. I baked this in a spring form pan and it turned out great!

BREAKSTONE'S Triple Chocolate Bliss Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2010
Okay if I could give this 10 stars I would! I did not make the coolwhip topping stuff (coolwhip is yucky to me) I made these into cupcakes and added to the batter a cup of mini chocolate chips and grated a half a bar of dark chocolate into the batter. They were amazing. Defiantely a go to recipe for me!

Rich Mexican Corn

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2009
This was delicious! I am always wanting a side dish with mexican food other than rice and beans and this ( and calabacitas) are my new favorites! I took adivce from a few other reviewers and altered this dish to suit my family's tastes ( we have 2 toddlers, so I can't make anything too spicy) I used most of a small can of green chilis, some diced red bell peppers, onions and garlic to add flavor, and it was so great! I will make this time and time again, and make it super spicy when the kids are not around!
