Mushroom Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2014
Oh dear, we so wanted to like this recipe! The pork was very dry, and had very little flavor despite using minced garlic (instead of garlic salt). Not the recipe for us.

Very Green Broccoli Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2014
A delicious soup, which also has great eye appeal due to the lovely color. I used regular sea salt as I didn't have grey, and skipped the gremolata. Well received by adults and teens! Will definitely make again. Thank you!

Best Ever Slow Cooker Italian Beef Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2013
Came home to the smell of this roast ready and waiting as we walked in the door. The meat was tender, delicious and quickly gobbled up by the family. Made exactly as written, I thickened gravy a bit prior to serving. Quick, simple, keeper recipe...thank you!

Favorite Hamburger Bites

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2012
Oh dear, I really, really wanted to like these. I will say my husband and children really liked these burger bites, but I found them to be bland. Made exactly as written, I'm not really sure what I would do to improve the recipe. Probably won't make again unless the family requests theml Thank you for the recipe.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: May 27, 2012
Oh my!! This was amazing....both in taste and ease of preparation. I did decrease the oil to 3/4 cup, and may decrease a bit more next time. A huge hit here; deemed a 'make again' from the first bite. Thank you for your award winning recipe!

Easiest Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2011
This is an easy recipe, however, I doubt the author 'created' this as this recipe has been around on nearly every crockpot website for years. Very salty if made as written.

Good for You Greek Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2011
Delicious recipe that was well received by both adults and kiddos. Perfect for a hot summer dinner or weekend brunch. Does not 'keep' well, so be sure to enjoy this dish the day you make it. Thank you for a wonderful recipe!

Luscious Slush Punch

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2011
I made a huge error in judgement when I made this, only making half a recipe. Yikes, it went so fast, and was delicious. I served this at my daughter's graduation party, and even had teenage boys asking for the recipe! I froze the mix in Ziplock bags, and agree with other commenters to take the mix out of the freezer way in advance, it does take a long time to thaw. I think I will next time freeze the mix in ice cube trays and have single serving punch on hand. Wonderful recipe Valerie, thank you for sharing.

Mexican Chicken Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2011
An ok recipe, but as others have mentioned, lacking in flavor. I did use chicken broth rather than bouillon, and my husband mentioned the chicken in and of itself did have a nice flavor. Thank you for the recipe.

Peking Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2010
Lynda, I've made this recipe of yours for years (since you first posted it on a cooking board) and it is AMAZING! Enjoyed by both adults and kiddos alike. I usually make extra and then use the leftover pork to slice up and make pork fried rice. A true family favorite. Thanks, Lynda!

Whole Wheat Beer Bread

Reviewed: May 11, 2009
A nice recipe enjoyed by the entire family. I did reduce the salt to 1 tsp. as others had suggested. The bread had a wonderful flavor and couldn't have been easier to make. I would suggest serving the bread warm. The following day the crust was rather hard and the bread texture not as tender, despite being stored in an air tight container. A definite make again recipe....thank you!

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
I made this recipe for the first time on New Year's Eve. I made only a half recipe as I had many other snack items on the menu. BIG MISTAKE!! This was gobbled up in no time flat! I served the spread with tortilla chips, as that is what I had on hand. I did bake for 20 minutes at 400*F. Thank you for the delicious recipe!

Artichoke Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2008
Despite the good reviews, we found this recipe very disappointing. Followed the recipe exactly as written, except for the cooking time. Cooking as directed would've resulted in undercooked chicken. The artichoke layer had good flavor, but it did not add any flavor to the chicken. Will not be making this recipe again.

Easy Vodka Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2008
A good basic recipe one can use to create an amazing sauce. I followed the recipe amounts, but from there added minced garlic (added with the onion), oregano, basil and parsley (all herbs added with tomatoes). I rated this recipe 3 stars because I did alter it so much. It was well received by both adults and kiddos and was declared a 'keeper.' Be mindful the recipe is for 10 servings, and will yield a large amount of sauce. Thank you for the recipe!

Asian Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2008
These burgers were well liked by adults and kiddos alike. I did need to adjust the amount of ingredients to match the amount of ground turkey I had on hand. I used ground turkey breast (white meat only) and fresh ground ginger. I gave this recipe 4 stars as I think the fresh ginger enhanced the taste as well as kept the burgers from being too dry. I also only rated this 4 stars as it is very misleading stating the burgers are 45 cents a piece. Ground turkey is a lot more pricey than that! A definite 'keeper' recipe, thank you!

Cream of Mushroom Soup II

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2008
Very nice soup with a good depth of flavor. I used chopped shallot instead of green onion and chicken stock in place of vegetable broth. I coarse chopped the mushrooms instead of slicing, for ease of eating. The only thing keeping this recipe from being 5 stars is it rather thin. Next time I will thicken it further. Serves 4 small soup bowls. If using for a main I would definitely double. Thank you for this keeper recipe!

Tomato Gorgonzola Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2008
A delicious tomato soup that was deemed a keeper from the first bite by both adults and kids. I followed the recipe to the letter, and served in hollowed out bread bowls. Wonderful, creamy texture with a lovely depth of flavor. Thank you for the delicious recipe!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2008
A nice recipe that was well received by the family. I was really expecting a lot more after reading the numerious reviews raving about this dish. The dish was ok, not "world's best" by any stretch. Definitely cut back on the salt; with all the cheese it is salty enough without it!

Chinese Lion's Head Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2008
I made this tonite for the first time, and it won't be the last! The only change I made was to use 3 cups of broth and 1 cup of water. I was a worried the broth would be a little 'thin' for our taste if made as written. Kids and adults loved this soup equally. This was immediately deemed a 'keeper' here. Thank you so much for the wonderful recipe!!

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2008
I made this last nite, and it was a hit with the family! I made 3 minor changes: added one can drained and rinsed black beans (wanted to stretch the recipe a bit), thickened the broth slightly before serving (we prefer a thicker style soup), and added the cilantro as a garnish on top prior to serving, rather than adding in the beginning. So nice to walk into the house with the smell of this delicious soup greeting you. Thank you so much for the definite 'keeper' recipe.
