Nutty Crispy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2002
My family loved these cookies! I made them with freshly ground whole wheat flour and dehydrated cane sugar. I rolled some of them in walnuts and some in cinammon sugar. They came out wonderfully, even after freezing the cookie dough in little balls and cookie right out of the freezer. We'll be making these again. I might add another 1/4 cup flour to give them a little more firmness.

Peanut Butter Cookies IX

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2002
These are good. I omitted the vanilla and used all freshly ground whole what flour. They came out with firm texture and not overly sweet. The chocolate chips add the perfect flavor.

Cornbread Muffins I

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2002
These are very tasty corn muffins, and my daughter's favorite! I used freshly ground corn and soft wheat, making them come out a little more dense, but delicious and hearty. I also subsituted canned for frozen corn with great results. The recipe takes exactly one regular sized can of corn. This is definitely a keeper.

Mom's Best Waffles

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2002
I'm an experienced cook and I had trouble with this recipe. Even when I cut down on the amount of milk, the batter came out rather thin. This made it diffucult to put enough batter in the waffle iron, which meant that I had a mess with the excess batter dripping down the sides of the waffle iron. The window between done and burnt also was very narrow. The taste was good, the texture average, ease of cooking poor.

Rocky Mountain Stew

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2002
My family loved this recipe. It tastes very similar to a famous brand of canned stew, but improved because it isn't as greasy. I made a few changes: just dumped the ingredients in a crockpot and cooked it all day, omitted the oil, flour and peas. It came out thick and tasty!

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2002
This is a delicious, tender, sweet cornbread. I made it into muffins and used freshly ground corn. They came out perfect...a little crispy on the outside and tender and moist on the inside. They are lighter in texture than other cornbread muffins I have tried.

This is a terrific cake. I made it with vanilla confectioner's icing and it came out great! And as mentioned before, it does make your kitchen smell fabulous.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2002
Everyone is right! These are delicious, moist and perfect oatmeal raisin cookies. I made a couple of changes and I'm still thrilled with the texture and taste of the cookies. I used all butter and used freshly ground whole soft wheat flour. No one even knew! I tried freezing them in little cookie balls, and they came out wonderful--even better I think. My 10 year old son loves them.

Chocolate Revel Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2002
These were delicious. I took them to an outing and everyone loved them. I did make one mistake that ended up making them taste even better. I accidentally put about 1/4 cup of the sweetened condensed milk in the cookie layer part. It ended up making them very chewy and good. I'll probably make this mistake again!

This truly is a chocolate lovers cookie! It held its shape beautifully. I rolled the dough into balls and froze them. They cooked up beautifully in about 10 minutes. My whole family loved them!

Soft Molasses Cookies V

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2002
These cookies have a very strong molasses taste -- too strong in my opinion. I also had trouble with the cookies holding their shape when they baked.

Steak Sauce

Reviewed: May 30, 2001
This is a great tasting steak sauce. I minimize the chili powder because we don't like spicy, but it is very close to what is on the grocery store shelves.

Chicken Wild Rice Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2001
This is one of the most delicious soups I've ever tasted! It is also very elegant and perfect for serving to guests. I made the soup the night before and added the wild rice (precooked the day before)and the half and half to the soup before serving the next day. I served it at a soup buffet and this was the only soup that was totally gone by the end of the evening. It got rave reviews by all the guests.

Cream Cheese Mints

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2000
I made these for Christmas and tinted them with green food coloring. Instead of rolling into balls, I rolled them out on waxed paper and cut out the mints with miniature holly shaped cookie cutters. They are delicious and beautiful and just melt in your mouth. My kids can't keep out of them!
