Cranberry Swirl Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2003
This is a very good coffee cake that makes a beautiful presentation. I baked it in a rose shaped bundt pan and sprinkled it with powdered sugar.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2003
This is a delicious cake! It is sweet, creamy, with a very smooth, fine texture. I baked it in a rose bundt pan, it came out beautifully, and was gobbled right up with enthusiasm. It was a little too much batter for a bundt pan, so next time I'll bake about 1 1/2 of batter in another baking dish.

Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2003
This was a good basic recipe, but nothing spectacular. I was glad to use real cheese and not the processed cheese that many recipes call for.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2003
I rated this one with 5 stars, not only because the flavor was good, but also because of its ease to put together with ingredients that most of us have on hand. I thought the sliced onions added a nice touch of variety as well as flavor.

Hot Fudge Ice Cream Bar Dessert

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2003
This was another winner. I was tempted to leave out the peanuts, but I'm so glad I didn't. They really combine to make a wonderful dessert. It is also striking in its presentation. Certainly suitable for dinner guests.

This was delicious! I did substitue turkey ham. The flavor was superb, and it was fairly easy to put together.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2003
This was a favorite for my whole family. My husband pronounced this was the best meatloaf I'd ever made. It was moist with a smooth texture and held together beautifully.

Santa's Favorite Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2003
This was a good cake and just beautiful with the marbeling of the red velvet and the yellow cake mixes. Please note that the yellow cake mix is a one layer mix,not the traditional 2 layer. I didn't notice that until it was too late. It makes a stunning presentation when cut and is tasty too.

I doubled the ground beef and omitted the celery. It was a delicious soup! My family loved it.

Blueberry Coffee Cake I

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2003
This is a good coffee cake, and easy to put together. I used freshly ground soft wheat flour and sucanat for brown sugar and sucanat with honey for white sugar. I substitued oil for the butter, but I don't think I'll do that again. I think sticking with butter makes the coffee cake better tasting. I had no problem substituting frozen blueberries for fresh.

Basic Baked Spaghetti

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2003
This turned out great for a family supper. I took the hint from other reviews about it being a little dry, so I added a can of cream of chicken soup. My family loved it! I also used 1 pound of ground beef. We like this better than regular spaghetti.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2003
These are pretty good. It's just really hard to beat plain old chocolate chip cookies. The pumpkin taste just distracts from the yummy factor.

Spaetzle I

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2003
We serve this with Hungarian Goulash and chicken soup. We love it! So far superior to purchased noodles. I've experimented with different ways of making this without a spaetzle press as the colander idea, just doesn't work. So far the best way is to zap carefully in a food processor...just until crumbly. There may still be a few bigger lumps, but do these separately or by hand.

Broccoli Cheese Bake

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2003
No one cared for this dish. It is mainly like broccoli in an egg custard -- nothing special and kind of bland. I didn't make this with Swiss cheese, so maybe that was the reason.

Buttery Pan Rolls

These were just so so. They didn't have the rich buttery taste I expected, nor were they very tender.

Ibby's Grasshopper Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2003
I'm giving it 4 stars because my 17 year old daughter loved it, but I didn't care for this pie at all. First of all the crust didn't come out well, so if I ever made it again I would definitely purchase a ready made crust. I didn't think the taste was tremendously appealing either.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2002
These are for the chocoholic only! Boy what rich deep flavor! I made them with freshly ground whole wheat flour and they came out perfectly even after freezing in little cookie dough balls and baking fresh from the freezer. They were a little to chocolatey for me, but my husband loves them.
