About this Cook
Recent college graduate, the first in my family, with a Bachelors in Social Work. I work with pregnant women and infants up to the age of one as well as doing Pregnancy Options Counseling at a local women's clinic. I'm recently married and I have a beautiful 17 year old daughter. I'm rather politically active, pro-choice and pro-equal rights.
My favorite things to cook
Anything flavorful but I'm known for my desserts. In the past few years I've began challenging myself more in the kitchen and when it comes to experimenting with flavors and different foods.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'm the 6th of 8 kids so I was taught to cook for a crowd. I only have one child so I've had to learn how to scale down many of the old family recipes I grew up on.
Recipe Reviews 17 reviews
I've never cared much for the guacamole that I've tried at various Mexican places I've been to but I've made this recipe twice now. The first time was just "ok", I didn't have fresh lime or cilantro. I made it again today with all fresh ingredients, including fresh lime & cilantro and it is so good! We did opt out on the tomatoes since neither me nor my daughter like them but the flavor (and difference the fresh ingredients make) was amazing. We'll definitely make this again and again.

Mom's Country Gravy
I used real butter instead of oil, and I added a pinch of garlic powder and some fresh cracked pepper and it turned out wonderful.

Sirloin Steak with Garlic Butter
We have made this a few times now and the steaks are always awesome this way! Just be cautious, if you decide to try basting the steaks with the sauce while grilling watch out for flare ups!!!
