Clean Breakfast Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2015
These are nice and chewy, lightly sweet, and quick and easy to make. I think I'd like them with dried fruit, too.

Greek Easter Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2015
I wondered how deep the color would be; it is a deep terra cotta color, very pretty. My eggs are a little overdone, but that's not a surprise! I would try these again.

Sicilian Easter Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2015
Lucky enough to have a taste when a co-worker made it. It's tender, creamy, delicate; love the flavor of the aromatic orange flower water and orange zest.

Old Fashioned Coconut Cream Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2015
Made it for Pi Day 3.14.15. I followed the recipe as written, but stirred the custard until it thickened, took about 5 minutes. When I first put the custard into the shell, I thought it was bland, but after chilling, the coconut flavor infused the custard beautifully. Best coconut pie I've ever had, including my favorite local restaurateur's famous one.

Oh, man. I dipped orange cupcakes in this. Fantastic, and such a pretty finish.

Baked Dijon Salmon

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2015
Delicious. Had a nice side of wild salmon, baked it skin-side-down with about 1/2 the toppings. The honey-mustard complemented the salmon really well; loved the crunch of the topping, and it was perfect at 15 minutes baking time.

Blue Cornmeal Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2014
They really did taste very much like the most wonderful blue corn pancakes I had once in the Albuquerque airport. I love them.

Grey Cup Nachos

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2014
A coworker brought these in to work, and he had used freh mushrooms and grated Cheddar cheese. Really nice, fresh taste, seasoned just right.

Puffed Millet Squares

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2014
Puffed millet is not as crunchy as crispy rice, so expect a slightly chewier texture. These were a little hard to keep together; the flavor is very nice, however, and they're a very satisfying snack.

I agree. Best ever, and gluten free, too. Made a great gift for my neighbor after a celiac diagnosis.

My first pudding shot ever. Wasn't too sure about it, but by the second try, I was quite sure I liked it.

Chef John's Bacon Jam

I love the sweet-savory thing going on here, and also that it coordinates well with the rest of the burger trimmings. It is delicious!

Bison Kofta Kebabs

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2014
This recipe was delicious with ground bison. Because the bison is pretty lean, I couldn't get it to stay on skewers, so I remedied that problem by putting a sheet of foil below them and poking the foil with a fork to get the flavor of the grill to come through. I did not have ground coriander, but used a spice mix with coriander as the first ingredient that also contained several other of the listed ingredients. I could not resist adding a little smoked paprika, either. Great with tzatziki; I'm finally getting through my glut of cucumbers.

Shish Tawook Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2014
I made this recipe while camping this past weekend, getting the chicken into the marinade before I left for the campsite. I followed the recipe faithfully, and it was perfectly moist and flavorful. I would not change a single thing.

Basil Cake with Balsamic Strawberries

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2014
I made a sour cream pound cake from scratch, using the same number of eggs, butter, vanilla, and the basil, then made the balsamic strawberries as directed. It was delicious. I really liked that it was not overly sweet, and the basil was very subtle but added a nice herbal note. I took it to a zoo concert and shared with my friends and total strangers; universal thumbs way up.

Easy Nanaimo Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2014
These are easy to make, and I liked the graham-walnut-chocolate base; I might use the cookie base for a cheesecake in the future. They are very sweet, so I cut them into 1-inch squares.

Toffee Cherry Butter Tarts

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2013
I didn't have quite enough sugar for 1/2 the recipe, but went ahead anyway (with about 3/4 cup). I thought my dried Bing cherries were bland, but the little touch of vinegar added the tartness they needed. I made 11 tarts, muffin-tin size; they were plenty sweet, and really tasty.
