Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie II

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2007
I got rave reviews when I served this to our Bible study group last night. I doubled the recipe and made my own chocolate crust (it adds a little to the work but is well worth it). Instead of a pie pan, I used a 9x13. Definite keeper recipe. Has anyone used regular pudding instead of pudding cups?

Crispy Rhubarb Pie

Reviewed: May 31, 2007
My husband (who doesn't usually care for rhubarb) thought this recipe should get a "five star" rating. The only reason I'm giving it a "four" is because it was a bit runny. Of course, with good vanilla ice cream, the extra liquid did add some more flavor!

Festive Wild Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2007
I took Josie's advice and added a bit of white rice (1/4 white to 3/4 wild). Also added the carrots, etc. she suggested. We loved the recipe and it was actually better the second day!

Tangy Sliced Pork Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2007
I made this recipe exactly as shown but since we're cutting carbs I served it as our main course without the hamburger buns. I used leftover pork loin, sliced very thin ... this is a keeper recipe!

This recipe is one of the many reasons I look forward to Thanksgiving. This is a "keeper" as far as our family is concerned!

Onion Bread I

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2008
This bread is excellent and very quick and easy to make. I only had one package of yeast so I was only able to make one loaf. I did sprinkle kosher salt and some mixed herbs on top during the second rising period. One other note is that this bread sticks very bad to your pan so make sure you use lots of shortening to grease the loaf pan.

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2008
Is there something above a 5 star??!!! I was wondering if all the prep work was worth it ... ABSOLUTELY!! Only change ... I didn't have garlic and I forgot to take the seeds out of the jalapeno peppers ... still very good. The Husker and Oregon State fans of this household love this chili!!! Thanks!!!

I don't even like meatloaf --- I made this for my husband and I ended up eating two helpings the first night and two helpings of leftovers the next night! Give this a try (oh, and definitely double the glaze!!!) Incredible ... thanks for a new favorite!

Diane's Colcannon

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2008
This is incredible!!! Served it with my St Paddy's Day dinner but definitely will make it throughout the year! I had some leftover coleslaw mix that I used instead of cabbage ... quick and easy!

Reuben Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2008
My husband loves Reuben Sandwiches ... this is a great alternative and a good way to use that leftover corned beef. There are only two of us so next time I'll make half a recipe. I toasted the bread first as others suggested ... good choice. It would be helpful to have a measurement for the amount of bread instead of number of slices since bread varies in size. I used 5 large slices of dark rye bread and it was way too much bread for the rest of the ingredients.

Barley Bake

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2008
This is a great side dish ... enough left over to put in the freezer! I used canned mushrooms instead of fresh and took the advice of another review and didn't add the extra green onions. I used vegetable bouillion so I should have omitted the added salt. I served this with the Sweet and Tangy Glazed Salmon from this site ... yummy!!!!

Chewy Coconut Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2008
There aren't enough stars for these cookies! I did alter the recipe a bit - I used half butter/half butter-flavored Crisco; added the suggested white chocolate chips and finely chopped macadamia nuts (because I had them both on hand). These cookies are on our "top list" and I can't imagine that my alterations made any difference ... YUMMY!

Tangy Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
This glaze is very good and a definite keeper! I didn't have pineapple juice or an orange so I substituted orange juice for the pineapple juice, leaving out the juiced orange and zest ... other than that, I made it as stated. I had a boneless ham sliced by the butcher and poured some of the glaze over the ham, covered it with foil so it wouldn't dry out and cooked it for 3 hours at 175 degrees since I had to be away when it needed to be basted. About the last 10 minutes I put the ham under the broiler to crystalize the glaze (baste a couple of times and watch so it doesn't burn). The flavored permeated the ham ... yummy!!

Balsamic Glazed Carrots

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2010
Great way to have carrots from the "normal" cooked carrots. I used regular carrots, thick sliced in my food processor; took very little time to cook.
