Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Great recipe and one where you can fudge the measurements and have it still come out yummy. I usually add more potatoes and onions than the recipe calls for, and I've even been short on cheese, but it still tastes great.

Caramel Popcorn

Phenomenal. Always a huge hit! Probably one of the most complimented recipes I make. I tend to use a few more cups of popped popcorn, so it thins out the coating a little bit (and stretches it further, so there is more to eat). Also, I use a wooden spoon to mix. For cleanup-I just let everything soak in water and dissolve until a simple wipedown is all that's needed. No need to struggle and scrub.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

This recipe (slightly modified) is always a winner for me with kids and adults. Every time I make it, I get compliments. The only modifications I made were to cut the oil to 3/4 cup, increase the water to 3/4 cup and cut the sugar in half—to 1 1/2 cups. Delicious! A great fall treat.

Steakhouse Wheat Bread for the Bread Machine

This was the second loaf I ever made in my bread machine (the first was the basic "Best Bread Machine Bread"), and I was a bit nervous to try something so complex so early, but I needn't have been. It was a complete success!!! Totally loved another reviewer's suggestion to top it with butter--amazing! Anyway, I have a 2.5-lb Panasonic bread machine with automatic yeast dispenser. Did 1.5 times the original recipe and set the machine to Bake, Whole Wheat, Medium Loaf (which is the smallest setting for the model). I followed Panasonic's instructions for adding the ingredients, not the recipe's, and used active dry yeast rather than bread machine yeast. Perfection. Edit: Just tried a doubled-recipe batch on the large loaf setting (the second of the machine's three sizes), and it came out perfect too.

Best Bread Machine Bread

Excellent crusty, plain white bread. This was the first recipe I tried in my new bread machine, and it came out beautifully. Tastes like a water challah for those familiar with challahs.
