Male, late 30s, friend of Dorothy. Thankfully, I never seem to have much time to devote to cooking or I'd have to hit the gym 7 days a week. I do love to surprise my mate by whipping up something elaborate-looking in no time at all. Shopping for ingredients has never been easier since I got a cell phone that can browse this site for my saved recipes 24/7.
My favorite things to cook
I prefer to keep things simple, so it is often dishes that I can throw together quickly. My chili has been a favorite of my significant other for many years now, so it would have to be my favorite--just knowing that he loves it so much.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Traditions? That would be where my mother knows measurements without using measuring spoons and cups. I'm proud to have inherited her skills to continue this tradition. I have to stifle a giggle when I watch my mate carefully measuring out everything exactly as recipes instruct.
My cooking triumphs
Two desserts, a complicated cookie recipe and custard bread pudding. Both turned out incredibly well--amazing for the first time making them.
My cooking tragedies
Making a tuna casserole one cold and snowy winter night, I hadn't realized that we were out of milk. The mate says to use the chocolate milk. Unfortunately, I listened to him. Bleh. From now on, we always have a box of powdered milk in the pantry for recipes.
