Chocolate Banana Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2013
Easy and delicious. I usually use unsalted butter when baking but opted for salted butter since the recipe doesn't include additional salt. Half the recipe made 24 smaller muffins that baked perfectly in 15 minutes.

Iced Tea II

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2013
I was looking for an Arnold Palmer recipe I could make in my electric iced tea maker. I followed the manufacturers instructions for 2 quarts, adding the sugar and lemon juice to the pitcher before brewing. I'm pleased with the results.

Cantaloupe Bread with Praline Glaze

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2012
I bake 24 muffins for 30 minutes and omit the praline glaze because the muffins are plenty sweet. Since only a couple of us like nuts, I add a teaspoon of nuts to individual batter-filled muffin cups and stir. Delicious!

Blackberry Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2012
I liked the soup better as a topping (mixed with a little bit of syrup) for the Pumpkin French Toast I served it with. My son loved the leftovers frozen into popsicles.

Slow Cooker Veggie Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2012
Quick, easy, okay. The chili, because of the veggies, had a fresh taste even with the canned ingredients, but it was a bit too spicy. If I make this again, I will use 1/4 t ground red pepper.

Double Chocolate Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
Other than subbing 3 dark chocolates for the German chocolate (didn't have any), I followed the recipe as written. Soooo good! Served it with Sweetened Whipped Cream (also from this site).

Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2011
Love these turkey burgers! My favorite way to serve these is with barbecue sauce on sandwich thins. However, I do not care for the mix used as meatloaf.

Everyone (children and adults) at my daughter's preschool Thanksgiving feast loved these.

Snow Ice Cream II

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
So we wouldn't have gritty ice cream, I subbed chocolate syrup for sugar. I scaled the recipe down to 2 servings and still had plenty to share with my 5-y-o. We made snow popsicles with the leftovers.

Buttercream Icing

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2010
I subbed another 1/2 C butter for the shortening, only used 2 C confectioners sugar and added 3 t of cinnamon. Even with the reduction of sugar, the icing was still very sweet and I only needed half of it to frost 24 cupcakes.

Broccoli Cheese Soup III

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2010
Really simple and delicious. The second time I made this, I used three (14oz) cans of broth and omitted the water. I combined 1/2 C milk with the cornstarch in a stand mixer, and then mixed in the rest of the milk and the cream of celery. I used a little more than 2 C of shredded Tillamook medium cheddar cheese. I served the soup with fresh cracked pepper and ciabatta rolls.

Unbelievably Easy Slow Cooker Black Forest Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2010
Some of the cake mix did not combine with the butter/juice mixture or cherries, so I stirred the entire contents of the slow cooker and ended up with a yummy, chocolatey-gooey dessert. It was even better with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Although it tasted good, the consistency was sticky and the dessert wasn’t attractive, so I won't serve it to company without tweaking. Next time I'll try combining the cake mix with the butter/juice mixture before spreading over the cherries in the crock-pot.

Easy Cheese Ball II

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2010
A hit with our crowd. I used sun-dried tomato cream cheese and made two smaller cheese balls - one rolled in pecans and the other in bacon. About half of the pecan cheese ball was leftover, but the one with bacon was devoured.

Quick and Easy Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2010
Very good, but very sweet. As others recommended, I reduced eggs to 3 and butter to 1/2 C. The brownies turned out gooey and chocolatey - better than the box mixes I used to love. Next time I'll try reducing the sugar to 1 1/2 C.

Tex-Mex Turkey Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2009
Great idea and no "leftover" flavor. However, it was a bit bland for us as written. It was better when I heated up the leftovers and added an 1/8 t of Taco Seasoning I, also found on this site, to each 1 - 1 1/2 C serving.

Orzo with Parmesan and Basil

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2009
I didn't have any fresh basil on hand, so I used 1 t of dried basil. The orzo I used absorbed the liquid in about 10 minutes. Very good with A Good Easy Garlic Chicken also found on this site.
