I am a stay at home mom, wife, homesteader, organic gardener, chicken & turkey raiser (yes, in the city limits) and a fantastic home chef. I am a prolific reader, writer and all-around anything educational "sponge". I love learning, teaching, sailing, biking, sewing, quilting and cooking. I am not much of a baker. Never really had the interest until recently. I want to make my own homemade breads from organic grains. This fact alone has sent me on a journey of discovery into this new mysterious realm. Other than that, I am a good listener, loyal friend and quite funny (I am told).

My Chili & Homemade Cornbread, Cedar Planked Salmon and my famous (in my neighborhood at least...LOL) Pork Spare Ribs with my Homemade BBQ Sauce!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Ingredients that you might not normally think of when making somewhat traditional dishes... like Chorizo and smoked pork chops in my chili and creamed corn and green chilis in my cornbread. The unexpected, which adds a tremendous added flavor component - those are my favorite handed down traditions. My least favorite tradition - which I have also inherited unfortunately is . . .making new dishes at the spur of the moment and not writing down the recipe! Of course they turn out fantastic, but you can't remember everything you did or used so that you can repeat it some day. OY!
My cooking triumphs
The best brined and roasted turkey ever for Thanksgiving 2007! So juicy and mouth-watering good...it dripped yummy goodness.
My cooking tragedies
Dropped the salt box into a pot of my Zuppa Toscano and ruined that nights dinner! Dumping a few potatoes into the water to soak up the excess salt didn't even help this one! :(
