Mashed Kohlrabi and Red Potato Bake

Very similar to Colcannon. I agree that you should boil the kohlrabi a few minutes before adding the potatoes (5 sounds good), or those pieces remain a bit crunchy and hard to mash. I added garlic powder (instead of garlic scapes) lite sour cream, olive oil spread, sea salt, and lactose free milk...mashed like crazy and served. Tasted yummy. This was our first time eating kohlrabi, and I'm not disappointed :)

Russian Tea Cakes I

I used skinned chopped raw almonds instead of walnuts (as that is what I had on hand) which was a fine replacement. Very tasty!

Cheddar Cheese Straws

The recipe calls for shredded cheeses and then changes to grated, but I used shreds. I also used 3-cheese blend which was good. Hard to shape in any appetizing form, but they were tasty!

Jalapeno Poppers I

Certainly not as tasty as the fried ones, but much lighter and healthier (as much as a cheese filled item CAN be). My only complaint is that the bread crumbs did not stick to the pepper, only the cheese. I guess that was to be expected.?.? Very tasty. Thanks for the recipe!

Creamy Ham and Beans

VERY easy and great for holiday leftovers. I used shredded cheddar cheese instead of the fake cheese and it was spectacular! Super yummy with sliced ciabatta bread, or italian bread.

Caramelized Brussels Sprouts with Pistachios

I've never wanted to cook brussel sprouts since they stink so bad...but cooking them this way makes a world of difference! They are very scrumptious and should be tried by everyone especially those who do not like brussel sprouts! These are not your grandma's boiled cabbages :)

Slow Cooker Cranberry Chicken

The recipe couldn't be easier!!! But the flavor is a bit strong and odd. The chicken does end up pretty moist and tastes great over rice. I put mine with carribean peas and rice and it worked great.

Lamb Barley Soup

I used ground meatloaf mixed meat instead of ground lamb simply because lamb was $10 more!! It was a great substitute affording a good hearty flavor. As another option, I would use lamb chunks for a nice stew :)

Fresh Pumpkin Pie

Excellent recipe for my first ever homemade pumpkin pie! I altered the recipe slightly. I added 1/2 tsp nutmeg & 1/2 tsp allspice, I substituted the milk and heavy cream for 1 c of Lactose free milk. I also mashed the pumpkin which gave it a very hearty texture, which was very nice. I would puree it for that very smooth store-bought texture. I used the whole sugar pumpkin (not just 2 cups) and the recipe made 2 very yummy pies :)
