Ultimate Gulf Coast Gumbo

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2010
I lived in New Orleans most of my life this recipe seems great, but noted a "lack of flavor" might be due to Old Bay Seasoning which is common on the East Coast, not in the South. We usually use Zetairan's Creole Seasoning or Tony Chachere's. Try that instead for a more authentic flavor.

Cream Cheese Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
Awesome! The family loved that they were serving sized and they went very quickly! As for my adjustments, I'd suggest mixing the graham cracker crumbs with the sugar and sprinkling them into the cupcake cups. Then just put a pat of butter on top (before you add the cream cheese). The crust comes together perfectly on its own while they're in the oven. We loved it, and I will definitely make this again!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies IV

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
I did not care for this recipe! I tried it twice and included all the suggestions and it came out a fluffy mess. They weren't even recognizable! The recipe has way too much flour for the amount of oats. I'd recommend finding a recipe with about 2 times the oats to the flour ratio. Had to abandon this one and find another recipe. But this is the first time I've found a highly rated recipe that didn't work for me.

Guy Approved Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
I love this recipe. I had never found a meatloaf I liked before and I wanted to try something for my husband and it was an instant hit! He loved the bacon and it was very moist. I found myself looking at the crackers and potato chips like what's that? So, I've since substituted the for about a cup of plain breadcrumbs so the texture is even. I definitely recommend this recipe and every time I serve it to someone new, I get great compliments!

Creamy Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
I absolutely loved it! I'm not much of a banana bread person but this one won me over! Normally banana breads and carrot cakes are dry, but this recipe HAS NO SALT, so it doesn't dry it out. Then, the banana and the cream cheese give a wonderful moistness and texture. As for adjustments, I used 3 bananas, lt. brown sugar instead of white, and only 2 cups of flour so it wouldn't be so dense. My family loved it and just hours later, there's hardly any left! I will definitely make this again!
