Holding my beautiful grand daughter
About this Cook
I am a mom of 6 grown kids & grandma to 6 grandkids. I have always loved to cook, and spent most of my life making "kid friendly" meals. Over the past few years I have revved up our menus and am REALLY enjoying it now! My husband of 24 years is my cooking accomplice and we have a lot of fun! I think my kids for the most part have acquired my love of cooking (& eating!)also, which makes me very happy!
My favorite things to cook
I like making just about anything with fresh veggies in the summer! All kinds of fresh veggie pasta sauces, soups, breads (when in the mood), lol, I think I love cooking whatever I'm making at the time, for the most part.. Plus when you are sharing the experience with someone you love, well that helps too. ;)
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom was full Ukrainian and made some incredible dishes! So several of our family's comfort foods come from that region. My hubby's dad used to help out in the kitchen too, so I guess that is now a tradition in our family. Come to think of it, my daughter's husband cooks with her too.. So now that it's 3 generations, I think it's formally a tradition!
My cooking triumphs
Wow, lets see.. Anytime something turns out beautiful & delishous I feel triumphant. On a personal note; I think I've finally perfected my vegetarian spaghetti sauce! It took me years of experimenting, but I think I'm finally there! Whoo Hoo!! lol
My cooking tragedies
Oh boy... There have been a few.. lol If I could only make them into funny stories... Just know, that on more than one occation, we had pizza for dinner instead... lol

Shrimp Mold
My mom gave me this recipe about 30 years ago, only difference is we use yellow onion. Always a family favorite from my original family In Michigan to my own in Utah and Colorado.

Peanut Blossoms II
I have been making these for over 30 years and my kids love them. Only I use butter in mine. I recently moved and can't find my recipes, so Thank you so much for posting this. You saved my xmas!!

Spinach Tomato Tortellini
This is incredible! Our family LOVES this recipe, so it is now in our monthly rotation. I'm not normally a fan of cheese tortellini so I wasn't sure I would like this. But when I went to buy it, I found some cheese and garlic ones and oh are they delish. I serve this with a nice big loaf of crusty bread, a spinach salad and a nice glass of white wine. Perfect. Thanks so very much Lela!!
