French Silk Chocolate Pie I

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2011
Was really good and liked the richness of the flavor. I dont know why but I should have gone with my gut and used confectioners sugar instead of the regular, but I thought....hmm... i guess I could go half and half...should have done confectioners as I still could taste some of the sugar granules. But good overall!

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2011
I agree with others saying that this frosting is not the best to decorate with. I used to cake decorate as well and I know that cream cheese frosting is the hardest to work with so I thought maybe this would be better. Anyways...its better on a flatter cake or cupcakes-I tried to ice a taller oval shaped one and had trouble keeping the icing from staying put. Does taste good, but honestly...cream cheese frosting always tastes better than decor icing. So i found this to be average but I did like the fact that it was a bit fluffier. I just wish it was stiffer. (It was when I first mixed it, but it started to lose its volume over time. (I did not have any meringue or cream of tartar...so ended up popping this in the fridge to get it to be a more workable consistancy.) My suggestion would be to not make this while your cake is baking as you will have to wait for it to cool...during this time your icing will lose its fluffiness, so make it right before you plan to ice your cake and throw it in the fridge so it doesnt have time to try to slide. I only used 1/2 powdered sugar and 1/2 granulated (as I thought I'd have enough powdered...but next time I will just do what I had originally intended and use all powdered as I do when making other types of icing.

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
A great recipe for a creamy fudge... made it without nuts since my friend didnt want any in the fudge...but it was very rich I think it would have been better if there were some in the fudge. But very tasty!

Coconut Macaroons III

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
I didnt give it a full 5 stars since I altered the recipe a bit. I added 1.5 teaspoon of vanilla and 2/3 teaspoon of almond extract and also added some almonds to the mixture as well. After I dipped them halfway in dark chocolate. YUM!!!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2009
I have made this 4 times already. Everytime everyone thinks it tastes great! The only thing is everytime i make it i always have to taste and add different seasonings, so i never end up following the recipe exactly. Everyone has different tastes, but feel free to play around with the gravy till it suits your tastebuds. Its definitely a great recipe to look to as a starting point for pot pie. I love making this with chicken, carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, and peas. Really easy and fun to make, and tastes great. The only reason why I am not giving it 5 stars is because i always have to tweak the flavoring of the gravy to suit everyone's taste. But definitely one to try!

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2009
Amazing flavor! I made the basting stuff and put it in a zip lock bag and froze to make a butter log and then sliced it into medallions. Then to make sure the meat was flavored I put the medallions under the turkey skin. Be sure to not only make pockets but to separate the skin a bit more so that the flavor doesnt just soak in one spot. You want it to spread to make a even an beautifully flavored turkey. Then, I had used some of the basting sauce i had saved to bast the turkey on top and then also a few times while baking. I had family and friends over, and everyone kept raving about how flavorful and juicy the turkey was! Wonderful! Thank you! :)

Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2009
I made this and my friends loved it! when making a meringue pie be sure to spread the meringue all the way to the crust to be sure that it wont shrink after it cools. That way you'll have a pretty and even meringue over your lemony custard :) YUM!

Chai Tea Mix

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
WOW... I dont even like chai tea cuz I dont really like tea that has a sort of spice flavor to it, but I made it for my friend who loves Chai Tea. I had some left over after gift wrapping it and what not, so i decided to try some...and to my suprise I actually really liked it! This recipe made a believer out of me... I'll be drinking more chai tea, but I'm not going to lie I'll still be hesitant to order it at our local coffee shop. Im very particular about my drinks, but anyways this stuff is AWESOME! Great taste and flavor. Not too overpowering. And I like the fact that by making your own chai you can decide how strong you want the tea or spices to be in your drink. (I did everything the same except I replaced the vanilla creamer by adding 2teaspoons of vanilla to the sugar and then added 1 cup of regular creamer in its place) Once again this recipe was wonderful. THANK YOU

French Toast Souffle

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2008
This recipes is actually from cooking light, and my grandmother gave it to me. I was so glad to find it online here at allrecipes since I have a tendency to lose papers. BUT THIS IS SOOOOO good! super easy to make and can be made the night before, so its great for easy brunch entertaining. You can add some grand manier and orange zest, and it adds great flavor to the souffle. I made both one with orange and one without, and everyone who tried it loved both, but the orange was the first to be finished! but everyone wanted to take the rest home... great recipe, and love the fact that its not too sweet because people can decide whether or not they want to put maple syrup on it. BUT AWESOME!

Extreme Banana Nut Bread 'EBNB'

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2007
It is perfect! made it 3 times everytime...everyone loves it! ***Update.. I've made this soo many times. I find that by adding a pinch of baking powder and mixing this in without a mixer (yes by hand)and it comes out with the best texture...worth the extra work. I also seperate and beat the egg whites to fold in last. Also, if I feel that I want to cut down on the butteriness I cut the butter to 1/2c and use 1/2 of oil instead. I still love this recipe...and so does my roommate who is has a deathly irrational fear of bananas.. lol. He likes it so much that he asks me to make it but will refuses to acknowledge what its made of. Also, its always gone within a day or two.
