Bean Soup With Kale

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2014
A good and healthy soup. Fresh parsley is a MUST - it helps to camouflage the kale and balances out the flavours in the soup. I made as directed.

Vegan Split Pea Soup I

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2013
This is WONDERFUL! My family really enjoyed this soup. I did find that it needed twice the amount of herbs, as another reviewer suggested, to suit our tastes.

Terry Willard's Curried Rice Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2013
This recipe is "okay". Not too bad but not outstanding and not something that I'd be inclined to make unless doing a cleanse.

Terry Willard's CHOCOLATE, NUTTY, AVOCADO CREAM SMOOTHIE

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2013
This recipe is quite good -- it would be improved with frozen banana instead of ice cubes but that isn't the point when you are on a cleanse.

Terry Willard's Green Eggs

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2013
We really aren't all that impressed with the flavour. I put in kale, pea shoots and spinach and found the kale overpowered the taste of the eggs. Hubby says he'd rather make an omelette as he enjoys that a lot more than this. I'd be willing to try it again with half the greens and not use kale. It is quick and easy with a punch of greens but the time consuming omelette is still the winner.

Terry Willard's Vegetable Fried Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2013
This recipe takes a bit of time to pull all the ingredients together and have them nicely organized before frying begins but makes a full meal. This does seems to make a lot! I interpret this as this being 4 servings for a one dish meal and not as a side dish. My husband didn't like the Chinese 5-spice so I will try next time using only salt and pepper. I suppose you could flavour with any herb or spice that you like but Chinese restaurant stir fried rice has little spice (and a ton of salt) which I think is the comparison. Quite a bit of effort for the lackluster result but an okay meal when looking for cleanse ideas.

Broccoli Stuffed Tomatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2013
I was surprised by how good this was! Might be better to use an avocado instead of oil in the dressing or make like a gazpacho. My son found the contrast between the hot broccoli and the cold tomato and sauce a bit odd, so he would have preferred either all hot or all cold. Didn't bother my husband and I at all; just depends on what suits your fancy.

Kale Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2013
I loved this recipe at the pot luck I attended but found the toasted sesame oil absolutely over powered this recipe making it inedible. I don't know if it is the brand of toasted sesame oil or not but I need to make this again without the toasted oil and see how it goes. What a shame to waste all that wonderful kale!

Pita Chips

These are wonderful and loved by everyone. They disappear fast! I don't have chervil and used oregano instead. Sooo good with hummus!!

Hummus III

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2013
I make hummus quite often now that I found this recipe. I should have posted a review earlier, since I've been using this as my base for several years now. Like others, I reduce the amount of tahini (I use a heaped tablespoon) and I use whatever juice I get from half a fresh squeezed lemon plus extra liquid from the can of beans. I also add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes and dill(!!) to the hummus.

Spicy Bean Salsa

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2013
Honestly, I'd have to say, I've never made the recipe "exactly" according to the ingredients listed but using the modifications suggested by Lucia de Wagner. I'm sure it is great either way -- I just prefer the lighter and healthier version with fresh garlic cloves. The recipe is great and I'm grateful it was posted because it is becoming a regular item! Great with tortilla chips, as suggested, but also as a topping/dressing for green salad, on its own in lunches, with eggs and as a topping or side with tacos or burritos.

Nikol's Garlic Bruschetta

Wonderful! I can't have dairy, so I omit the cheese and this recipe is still great. I usually add chopped chives or green onion too.

Lunch Juice (Gazpacho)

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2013
This juice seems to me a better idea for the blender and then I'd rather make my regular Gazpacho recipe. My husband was more impressed with this juice than I was. I found it to be an odd blend of flavours and just "okay". Next time I think I'd try a clove of garlic too.

No Clementine oranges around here so I used Valencia instead and they really help to disguise the green flavour. Really healthy juice that tastes good!

Lentil Soup II

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2013
Very good. I modified as per some of the other reviews by cooking lentils first and then adding onion, garlic, a whole can tomato sauce - increased the Italian seasoning accordingly - and added diced carrots and spinach. I rarely ever make lentils but that will change now that I found this recipe! Thanks!

Roasted Vegetables

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2013
I've made this recipe now several times. Sometimes following the ingredients and sometimes substituting different veggies. We particularly like onion, potatoes and carrots as the base, and beets in the Winter and using the sweet peppers, zucchini and mushrooms in the Summer. Thanks for the recipe!
