About this Cook
I was born in Shreveport, LA in an Army hospital. I have only visited there a couple of times during my adulthood. I've lived in Germany twice and in HI for 3 years in my preteens. I was raised on good ole southern cooking. My family raised gardens where ever we could. I am married to a Hispanic man and have learned a great deal of cooking hipanic foods. I love to cook anything though.
My favorite things to cook
I love Mexican food as well as other cuisines. The flavors of foods from other cultures fascinates me. I have recently learned that spinach is a common food staple for India so now I am searching for recipes from there. I love pasta, beans, and soups mainly. But I will try to cook any culture style food that is affordable from my local grocery.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas Dinner and 4th of July BBQs. Southern foods are so versatile, spicy and quantitative. I have so much fun cooking for crowds.
My cooking triumphs
Anything I've made up and can't repeat. Italian has always worked well for me. So has Mexican cooking.
My cooking tragedies
I have trouble with pie crusts and homemade tortillas. I give up. A good tortilla is the house brand from my favorite grocery store here in TX.

Baked Rice Pudding
I read several reviews to bake this only for 30 minutes. It says to bake for 30 minutes. Also, many ppl complained of it being dry. It was perfect, especially with half n half added when served. I baked this in a glass baking dish without buttering or using Pam. It did not stick. I always butter my rice when i cook it so that maybe the reason. It was delicious. I will definitely make this a regular at my house. As was stated in several reviews, this is a baked pudding not a creamy pudding. love this recipe! The only change i would make is to add more raisins since my husband thinks you can never have too many in any dish. thanks for submitting a wonderful dish.

Chocolate Frosting II
I made this recipe exactly as the directions said. It turned out perfect for a 2 layer 9" cake. It was not too thick or thin and it is very tasty.
