Easy Lemon Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2011
These are very good. I didn't have lemon extract so I used fresh lemon. I wanted a really lemony cookie and these fit the bill. I see where people said they are a little cake like, but are wonderful. I was planning on freezing some for Christmas, but not sure there will be any left. My husband gives them a thumbs up. They look just like the picture. I refrigerated them for a couple hours and they were a perfect to roll. Thanks for the recipe. I also used my convection oven and it worked great.

Country Cinnamon Swirl Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2011
This was so delicious. The only changes I made was substitute brown sugar for white in the cinnamon mixture and I didn't have buttermilk so I used 1 tbsp vinegar in milk. This is my new favorite sweet bread. Thanks for sharing.

Norwegian Waffles

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2011
These were very good waffles. I did only use 1 1/2 cups milk and used butter instead of shortening. I normally use Bisquick waffles, but was out so needed to make from scratch. These were delicious. I added blueberries to the mix. Thanks for a great recipe.

Slow Cooker Kielbasa and Beer

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2011
The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star is because I made some additions. Like other reviewers I like onions, apples and mustard with my saurkraut. I cut up an apple and onion and put in the slow cooker with the sausage, added 14 oz of saurkraut then topped with Dijon mustard mixed with done brown sugar and used a bottle of Sam Adams. Made mashed potatoes to put under it when finished and was wonderful. I usually use pork tenderloin with sauerkraut but love the kielbasa. It is now my favorite sauerkraut recipe.

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2011
These were incredible. I did substitute craisins for the raisins though. I made them exactly like the recipe except I put them in 2 cake pans because they were crumbly. But turned out perfect. For 2 people I would halve the recipe. Can't wait to make more. Thanks for a wonderful recipe! They did take 25 minutes to bake. I will try to make individually next time just for change.

Creamy Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2011
This soup was delicious. I didn't add the bacon because it is so salty. I cooked my peas until they were so soft I did not have to put in blender. Also, because I cooked them so long I needed more liquid so I added chicken broth. Also didn't have whipping cream but added half and half. Just finished off the last of it and it was as good as the first day if not better. Thanks. Oh, I halved my recipe since it was for just the 2 of us.

High Flavor Bran Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2011
This is an incredible bread. It is a 2 lb bread and looks beautiful I followed the directions except I did not have dried milk so I just substituted a few tablespoons of the water with milk. This is our favorite wheat bread. Thanks Jennifer

French Crepes

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2010
I have never made crepes before so I was a little reluctant. But, these were easy and very delicious. I cut the recipe in half and it would really only serve 3 or 4 people I believe. I filled them with blueberries and vanilla yogurt. Would not change a thing. Thanks for a wonderful recipe.

Easy Mediterranean Fish

Reviewed: May 8, 2010
Very good. I didn't have tomatoes, but it was still good without it. I did add mushrooms and green peppers. Will definitely have again.

Bread Machine Swedish Coffee Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2009
This tasted just like my friend from Finland would make. I followed the other reader's comments about the cardamom and only added 2 tsp, but I think I will put close to 3 tsp in next time. It was wonderful and so easy to make. I didn't have pearl sugar, so just used regular sugar on top. Loved it, brings back good memories with my friend who no longer lives close to us.

Mom's Buttermilk Biscuits

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
I don't know what I did wrong, but the biscuits did not rise at all. I enjoyed the taste, but not the way they looked.

Pistachio Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2009
Very delicious. The reason I only gave it 4 starts was because I did what other reviewers suggested and used cool whip and about 3/4 of the pudding. I also added pineapple, as suggested to the frosting. Very moist cake, everyone loved it.

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2008
I have not been a huge pecan pie fan, but my husband is and we both love this pie. I took this pie for our Thanksgiving dinner and everyone raved about it. I made several pies at several different times. The first one I made as listed, but turned down the temp to 300 for the last 10 minutes. The second one I made with the suggestion of 400 then turning it down for 50 minutes. When I did that the center of my pie fell after taking it out of the oven. I didn't take that to our Thanksgiving dinner thinking it was ruined but kept it for ourselves. It wasn't ruined, it still tasted wonderful, but the presentation wasn't great. This will be the only pecan pie I make in the future. I always hated the corn syrup taste. Thank you for a wonderful pie.
