Basic Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2011
I previously had horrible luck with pie crusts; they never turned out well. This one however, is perfect: VERY buttery and just the right amount of flakiness. The only modification I made was to use butter instead of shortening. My search for a pie crust recipe is over!

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: May 28, 2009
This was absolutely delicious! Even when I accidentally kept it in the oven for too long the second time I was making it, it was still soft, moist, and scrumptious. Thank you for this amazing recipe!

Eileen's Spicy Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
These are literally the best gingerbread men I've tasted. The flavor is wonderful (maybe it's just me, but most gingerbread cookies are tasteless). I only did a few things differently. First of all, I ground the cloves and nutmeg myself (MUCH more flavor) and added about 1/2 teaspoon of allspice and 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom. As I am a cinnamon addict, I added what must have been 1 1/2 tablespoons of cinnamon. I also began to knead the dough with my hands when mixing in the powders as the dough was much too tough and crumbly. I coated my hands continuously with water, which pressed the clumps together. When I was tasting the dough, I was thinking the cookies would turn out with much too powerful of a molasses taste. However, once cooked, these cookies were filled with warming spices and just a slight hint of molasses. This was my first time making gingerbread cookies, and this will definitely be the only recipe I use. Thank you so much!

Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies II

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
Absolutely decadent! I must admit that I added about 1 1/2 cups flour instead of 2 cups, which created hard-to-manage and sticky dough. However, when the cookies got out of the oven, they were beautifully soft and chewy, even after sitting out in the open air for about 2 days.

Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2008
I listened to other reviews and added 4 tablespoons of cornstarch instead of 3, baked it on 375°F, and let it sit for one hour. The pie made the whole house smell delicious, so I eagerly cut open the pie to see what it tasted like. The pie, although VERY liquidy, looked like it made a great "pile" (a dish I used to make in my childhood, where I'd bake a pie and then literally pile the piece onto my plate, so it looked somewhat like a crumble, but even yummier), so I piled the piece onto my plate. It tasted amazing! I added some vanilla ice cream on the side, and that balanced the tart flavor of the blueberries. Then I let the rest of the pie sit overnight, and in the morning, although still liquidy, I was able to get a solid piece out. I will be making this again, because it made an absolutely amazing "pile".

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2008
MMMMMM! These were DELICIOUS! The dough was fluffy and light, and complimented the flavor of the berries. I had a TON of black currant on hand, so I used that instead of blueberries. Even my mother, who despises anything sweet (her tounge is really sensitive), loved these.

Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: May 10, 2008
These are very good! I followed others' tips and added a whole cup of milk (instead of 3/4 cup), a splash of vanilla, and about a tablespoon of brown sugar. However, I think the cup of milk was too much; the muffins were a little too moist. I think I may add 3/4 as recommended next time. They taste delicious! Thank you!

Escargot Mushrooms

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2007
Very good! The mushroom adds a whole new dimension. It was not needed to cook the snails in the butter/garlic mixture, as mine were canned, they were already cooked. You do not need to have garlic bread, but I would reccomend using some sort of bread to soak up the juices because that makes it taste AMAZING! I really enjoyed this recipe, thank you so much!

Strawberry Pie II

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2007
I LOVE THIS! so simple and good! a little too much cornstarch, more like 2 tblsp works. I made it 3 cups strawberries, 1 cup thinly sliced apple. SO GOOD!!!!!! another thing-it neeed a little bit of lemon juice to add for flavor. instead, i used lime juice because it goes with strawberries VERY WELL!!! i also made one of this version with 3 cups strawberry, 1 cup banana. it was really good too! thank you so much!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: May 16, 2007
Really good! Soft, moist, and a little crispy on the outside. I did add some changes. I refrigirated for 45 minutes, and found out when baking that it's better to cook at 300 degrees the whole time. I added 1 cup of chocolate chips instead of 2. i thought they would turn out liquidy until i added the sifted stuff. After i altered it to my taste, it was 5 STARS!!!!!!!!!!!

Tart Lemon Ice Cream

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2007
WOW! This stuff tastes amazing! And cheaper than buying in the store too. I only changed one thing with the recipe, because my lemon zest was already grated very small, i didn't bother with the blender. I froze it overnight because i made it right before bed, and the next morning the first thing i said was, "Wow this stuff is amamzing!" Not too hard, and not too soft either. Perfect. Thank You!

Mini Cheesecakes III

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2007
I followed this recipe exactly- 10 stars! One thing i changed was i used paper muffin cups-but that wasn't nessecary. I was lacking one paper thing, so i greased one of the cups. It came out perfectly without muffin cups. I DO NOT like cheesecake, I repeat, I do not like cheesecake, but I ate these with delight. The only cheesecake i will ever eat from now on. The lemon zest and juice is what gave them their uniqueness and flavor. My parents say that this is the best cheesecake they have ever tasted- and they've eaten at 5-star restaurants. Thank You!

Chocolate Cupcakes

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2007
ummm well they rose over the top when i put them 3/4 full, making them look like mushrooms. also, the inside tastes like fudge (it never did cook all the way through) and the outside is rock-hard. i dont think any of the modifications i made made it do that. i added 1 tblsp of melted semisweet chocolate, but thats it.

Banana Bread VIII

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2007
YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love it. i cooked it in muffin form, and used butter instead of shortening. tastes great! milk was not needed and i have no idea why i listened to the other people. i made the mistake of listening to other reviews and added 1/2 cup milk, resulting in me adding a lot of flour to make up for it. i followed the recipe almost exactly, but cooked them for 1 hour 10 minutes instead of 1 hour because they turned out a little raw when cooking 1 hour. i also added about a cup of walnuts and that was like the final touch. one of the best banana breads ive ever tasted.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2007
they are simply the "best". crispy on the outside, soft in the middle. it could use a few more walnuts, but only about a 1/4 cup more. it was my first time making chocolate chip cookies EVER, and these were better than i expected. way easier looking too. easy to mix, easy to cook, and uses ingredients found around the house. my family couldn't stop eating them!so many people want me to make this for their parties. great recipe that i will make over and over.

Jiffy Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2007
All i could taste was baking soda. The brown sugar burned on the bottom. i had to use SO MUCH frosting to cover up the bad taste. not something i will make again. also, i had to add about two more cups of flour too.no idea how it earned the high ratings.
