About this Cook
I've always loved to cook but since I was a working Mom never seemed to have enough time! Now that I'm retired I love to try new recipes.
My favorite things to cook
Everything! Being from an Italian background I especially like Italian food. I've never been a great 'baker' but now that I have the time I'm working on more desserts, etc.
My cooking triumphs
I'm known for my Lasagna and Gumbo!
My cooking tragedies
One Thanksgiving, as I was making a sweet potato casserole, I mistakenly picked up the sage instead of cinnamon and dumped into the potatoes!! Luckily I realized before I mixed it in and just removed a scoop of potatoes and no one ever knew!

Italian Sausage Soup
I just finished a big bowl of this with sourdough garlic rolls and it is delicious!! Didn't change a thing...perfect as is!

Dandelion Salad
Brought back great memories of my Italian father picking dandelions from the yard! He would saute' in olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper. I thought it was so weird to eat "weeds" but through him I learned to love them!

Uncle Bo's Hot Sandwiches
Oh my goodness! I was so glad to find this recipe! I was born and raised in Pittburgh,PA and this was my favorite childhood recipe that my Mom made for lunch. She died a few yers ago and I never knew how to make them. Now if I could tell the people at the deli counter how to "chip" the ham I'll be in business. Must be an east coast thing a I'm in CA. now and no one knows what "chipped ham" is! Thank you so much for this great recipe!
