Peppered Shrimp Alfredo

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
Wow, and I mean w-o-w. I made this the other day, and my wife said, and I quote: "This might be the best meal I've ever eaten." Can't find Alfredo sauce in the store here in the North Po..I mean Finland, so i made it with this Alfredo Sauce 2 recipe on this site. I didn't use as much mushrooms as the recipe suggested, but I'm sure the ½ pound wouldn't be too much. I also didn't add the cayenne (there wasn't any), but all the same - this was brilliant!

Potato Chips

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2007
I used a regular peeler knife to make really thin slices. However, using a ceramic dish caused the chips to really stick even though I used loads of oil. I'll be trying to use some baking parchment next time, as someone suggested. The taste and crispiness (is that a word?) is absolutely perfectamundo, but only four stars because of the stickiness. EDIT: Tried the parchment. Avoided sticking but I don't think the chips became as crispy. Good anyway.

Finnish Nissua

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2007
The correct name is 'Nisu' or 'Pulla'. You may want to try them like this: after making and raising the dough, roll buns a bit larger than golf balls and let them rise for ca 15 mins. Then make a hole in the middle of the buns with your finger. Fill the holes with butter and cover the butter with some white sugar. Put some egg wash on the buns and bake them in the oven (375 degrees) for maybe 10 minutes. The beatiful brown color will tell you when they're done. Enjoy with a glass of cold milk, that's the proper Finnish way to do it!

Swedish Meatballs II

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2007
Otherwise excellent, but I will add more salt in the meatballs next time. The sauce was perfect with maybe 2 pinches of nutmeg.

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2007
Outrageously delicious! I cut the amount of oats to 2 cups to make them more chewy and thin + some chocolate chips for the Mrs. She doesn't usually have a sweet tooth for cookies 'n cakes, but these - I had to fight vigorously to get my share!

Yummy Blueberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2007
It turned out really good, but for some reason made my stomach ache. I also reduced the sugar to about a half, and it was still a bit on the sweet side.
