Shrimp Chowder

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2003
This is a yummy, super easy recipe! I went to the seafood counter at the store and got the broken cocktail shrimp which worked just as well and I didn't need to thaw. It does need old bay though, to give it a kick and a neat "shrimpy" color. A little pepper is necessary too. Thanks for the great recipe!!

Apple Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2002
This recipe was only so/so. My husband, who loves anything sweet wasn't crazy about it. I found that it had too much apple. I used the suggested quantity, but the recipe really didn't specify the size of the apples so I used regular sized apples. It was also pretty bland, and I added more cinnamon than it called for. Perhaps using smaller apples, adding some nutmeg, a dash of allspice and much more cinnamon, it will be better.

Slow Cooker Chicken with Mushroom Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2002
This recipe is great! I added fresh garlic and basil to mine, and deleted the onion. The garlic really brings the flavor out in the other ingredients much better. The first time we had this over rice, then with the leftovers I chopped up the chicken and served it over a spinach pasta. It was really yummy both ways! Thanks!!

Penne with Pink Vodka Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2002
This is a wonderful recipe! I usually cook the tomatoes down a lot longer to cut the acid. I also add a lot more garlic and some fresh herbs. It's wonderful with seafood or chicked added. My friends rave over this and it's a common request when they come for dinner. Thanks!

Chili I

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2001
This recipe is super....nice and thick! I can't eat fresh onions or fresh chili peppers so I added some corn, regular green pepper, dehydrated onion and a few sundried chili peppers. I also decreased the kidney beans to 2 1/2 cans because the meat should be the main focus. I threw away all my other chili recipes and it was a hit among the people I shared it with. Cornbread and real butter are wonderful with it. Thanks!

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2000
This is absolutely the best stuffing I have ever made or eaten. I have never been a big fan of stuffing but this was so moist and flavorful that it was my favorite left- over! I can't eat onions so I left them out, added more mushrooms and cut down on the broth a bit. My Thanksgiving guests said it was the best stuffing they ever had, and they had no idea that it wasn't in the turkey! A definate keeper!!!

Snickerdoodle Cake II

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2000
This recipe is nice and moist and has a great topping. I found it rather bland though but that could easily be fixed with adding some cinnamon or your favorite spice to the cake itself and perhaps using brown sugar for the topping. It just needs a little kick.
