Blackberry Cobbler II

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2012
I made it exactly as written EXCEPT I sprinkled a bit of cinnamon over the top before baking. It came out wonderful! Excellent recipe, thanks!

Raspberry Banana Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2010
This is one of the best banana breads I've ever tasted! I don't like nuts, and substituted white chocolate chips for the nuts. Also, instead of 1/2 cup oil, I used 1/4 cup oil and 1/4 cup applesauce. Wonderful bread! I'll be making this again!

Steamed Christmas Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
This was just PERFECT! Very moist and has the perfect balance of ingredients. I wouldn't change anything at all. I did not have a rack that would fit into my boiling water pot, so I made a 1/2 inch ring out of foil and placed my mold on that. It came out beautiful and I will make this every Christams from now on.

Pistachio Crusted Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2008
Sounded great, but for me the flavor just wasn't there. Didn't look very pretty either. I tried it with a raspberry sauce suggested by another reviewer, still.. not great.

Cocktail Meatballs

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2008
These were great! I accidently used Asian chili sauce and WWWOOOHH, that was some spicy sauce! I added another can of cranberry sauce and more brown sugar, that seemed to make it just right for me and my husband. But we like stuff hot. I also noted one reviewer added Lipton Onion Soup mix into the meat instead of onions and I did that as well. They turned out perfect and I will definatly make them again!

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: May 31, 2008
Completly wonderful! This was easy, EASY to make, and was so good. I had a 4 lb butt roast and only cooked it for 12 hours.. it was falling apart and I wasn't brave enough to continue with the recommended cooking time. But still, at 12 hours you have to plan ahead. This pork is worth the wait. I served it with Ono Butter Mochi and Pani Popo (both found on this site). Wonderful!

Ono Butter Mochi

I really liked this. The cake was springy, like angelfood cake, but dense and very tasty. It was great served with tropical fruit and whipped cream.

Great flavor! My family loved it, and the leftovers are going to make some awsome turkey sandwiches.

Wow! This was so unusual and easy to make. It tastes very authentic and was wonderful served with and Indian meal I made. I wouldn't change anything, it's great for a change of pace.

Naan

Really great! I added the 1/4 tsp of baking soda (as recommended by others) and got those nice bubbles in my bread. The taste was wonderful, perfect texture. Awsome recipe.

French Leek Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2008
Wow, easy and delicious! Everything was perfect: flavor was perfectly balanced, great texture, cooking time was exactly right. I love the subtle, cheesy flavor with the onion aroma of the leeks. It looked beautiful as well, great presentation.

Rosemary Roasted Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2007
This recipe was wonderful! Great flavor, perfectly balanced. I doubled the recipe, mixed everything together and poured it over a pork roast in my crock pot. Cooked on low for 5 hours, then took out the marinade, boiled it, and added 2 packets of pork gravy. It made the best roast and gravy I've ever had!

Eggnog Thumbprints

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2007
These cookies turned out perfect!! I used 1/4 t of rum extract, instead of rum, and they just taste wonderful. I had to bake them for longer then 12 min, but I probably made them huge because I only got 30 cookies out of the dough. I will make these again at Christmas and may add some red or green food coloring to the frosting.

Peppermint Pinwheels

Reviewed: May 24, 2007
I didn't rate this low because of flavor. These cookies tasted great, but they ended up making a complete mess while I was trying to roll the dry, crumbly dough into the jelly roll. I ended up just doing the best I could, then "mushing" together all of the pieces that crumbles off. Sliced and baked. They looked a bit silly, but like I said, they tasted really good. I did double the butter as many reviews noted, but the problem was still there. I'm going to the highest rated sugar cooke or shortbread cookie on here and seeing what the difference is in the recipes. I will try to make these again, just with some tweeking.

Caramel Filled Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: May 24, 2007
These cookies were the best cookies I've ever made. I chilled my dough overnight. They were so easy to make that my 3 year old daughter was helping me. 1 bag of Rolo's has about 54-56 pieces in it, so just grab one of those. Don't over cook your cookies, I had two batches, one cooked for 10 min, one for 8 min. The 8 min ones looked more "puffy" and cooled to be superiour in texture. These cookies are just awsome.. if my cookie jar wasn't emptied of them last night, I'd be eating one right now.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2007
This was the best ginger cookie I've ever had! Perfectly soft and tasty. The dough was a little sticky to work with and I almost added more flour, but I used spoons to make the balls and roll them in the sugar. It worked great and I'm glad I didn't add the extra flour because they turned out perfect! Next time, I may put the dough in the fridge for a bit to make it easier to work with, but the spoons worked really well.

Split Pea Soup with Rosemary

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2007
This soup is as good as they say! Only changes: my peas didn't soften until about 2 hours, and I added a butter roux to make it thicker. I also added lots of black pepper. But this is great with the rosemary and bacon flavors, definatly a repeat soup.

Snow-Topped Chocolate Mint Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2007
These cookies were wonderful! Very pretty to look at and great texture and flavor. I didn't have mint chocolate chips in my cupboard, so I used 2/3 cup of green mint chips, and 1 1/3 cups semisweet chocolate chips (mixed together then devided in half) and they turned out perfect. They look more frosty with those green chips in them!
