Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2007
This cake is very easy to make. Mine came out really moist and soft. I'm not a big fan of sweet cake, so this cake was perfect. I used the chantilly frosting recipe to top the cake, and they complemented each other very well.

Chantilly Cake Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2007
This recipe is basically the same thing as a German Chocolate Cake frosting recipe, but with macadamia nuts. It had the right amount of sweetness and nuttiness. Thanks!

Farm Macaroons

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2007
I have no idea what I did wrong. These cookies came out flat, I only used one cup of sugar and they were still too sweet. The batter was really "goopy" too.

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2007
GourmetMommy's recipe is a lot better than the original. Her version is sweet enough compared to the original which is too sweet. I added lemon zest to the crust and only two drops of yellow food coloring instead of three because I didn't want it to look fake. It looked and tasted fabulous. This is a great summertime treat!

Spanish Flan

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2007
This is my first time making flan and it came out very well. It has a nice custard flavor and consistency. It doesn't have the excess egg flavor. Next time I will make them in individual serving cups instead of a pie pan because it is a little runny and messy.

Oh my goodness. These cookies are delicious! I've tried to make soft cookies for a long time, but they always came out crunchy. This recipe is the real deal!

Red Velvet Cake I

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2007
I followed TLBRAN's modifications, but only used one ounce of the red food coloring. The color of the cake came out well, but even though I used four tablespoons of cocoa powder, it didn't come out as chocolatey as I wanted it. I would mix the cocoa powder with the buttermilk next time. The cake was moist and very easy to make. I'll make it again, but with more chocolate.

Truly a winner! I made these into cupcakes, and they are so light, moist, and delicious! Frosted "rich chocolate frosting" found on this website.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake Cookies

This is the best double chocolate chip cookie I've ever made. It's almost like a soft and moist brownie. This one is a keeper.

I doubled the crust, but other than that, this recipe doesn't need any changes.

Italian Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2007
Overall the taste was okay. The cookie by itself is not sweet and doesn't taste like chocolate. The glaze is what gives it flavor and sweetness. I was actually more impressed by the glaze itself than the actual cookie.

Anzac Biscuits with Macadamia Nuts

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2007
I absolutely love this recipe! This cookie is best described as a chewy (or crunchy) sweet oatmeal cookie. It is very delicious. The macadamia nuts and coconut flakes give the cookie a great texture that compliments the oatmeal. What I like about this recipe is that it is egg-free, so the batter is definately safe to eat! The time-consuming part of the baking process is placing the dough on the cookie sheets. The dough is crumbly, and a bit dry so I recommend rolling the dough into small balls (not too compact), and then flattening them, shaping them into circles. The three centimeters for spacing is something that should be taken into consideration because these cookies do spread out quite a bit. I was also told by an Australian friend to let the cookies "age" for two or three days to achieve a chewier texture. Happy baking!

Eileen's Spicy Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2007
I made my first batch yesterday and they came out very well. The color and taste of the gingerbread were just right. I had to chill my dough for two hours because it was still soft after the first hour. Today I made another batch and they came out VERY differently. They were lighter in color, and I chilled it for two hours and they were still soft and sticky. I didn't change anything so it's a little strange.

Carrot Cake III

Absolutely delicious! I used only a cup of vegetable oil, three teaspoons of vanilla extract and a 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg as recommended by a fellow member. I sprinkled on some coconut flakes after I frosted the cake with Cream Cheese Frosting II, found on this site.
