About this Cook
I'm a full time student working for the summer at a small soup restaurant for the lunch time crowd. I love cooking, baking, learning new recipes and trying new ingredients. The chef that I work for has taught me so many things, and I love learning something new everyday. Recently I spent a week at a kids camp where (with the help of three amazing volunteers!) I cooked for 65 campers and 15 plus staff. It was an amazing and rewarding experience.
My favorite things to cook
Soup, you can do anything with it! Every time I make it its slightly different, even if its the same recipe.
My cooking triumphs
When I did thanksgiving for my thirteen friends a couple years ago, with the help of my amazing roommate (**half way through preparing dinner he got the attention of everyone and said "go call your grandmas and thank them for doing this every year!!"**) It was the first time I had cooked for so many people, and it was also my first time having a major holiday at my house.
My cooking tragedies
Oh my, I think everyone has a couple; I burnt some stir fry vegetables to a crisp once, I forgot to cook out some flour in a soup once so it tasted like, well, flour! Another time I made soup at home and the flour burnt to the bottom of the pot so that was fun to clean out...

Toasted Butter Pecan Cake
This recipe was alright. I think I may have overbaked it just a little because it did end up being pretty dry. The frosting was so so. Just a sidenote, in your ingredients list you have baking powder but in the procedure you said to mix baking soda; I wasn't sure so I used baking powder. This may have had something to do with it. Also, I have a cake recipe that calls for 4 tsp. of baking powder and this one only calls for 2. This may also have soemthing to do with it.

Banana Blueberry Muffins
I don't know if I did something wrong but the mixture was so dry! I added two whole eggs instead of egg whites, and I had to add milk because of the dryness. They stuck to the papers so much that you ended up losing half your muffin to it and they tasted very very bland.
