Whole Wheat Pancakes

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2009
These are good and my husband frequently requests this for breakfast on the weekends. I typically always use oatmeal instead of wheat germ, all whole wheat flour, vegetable or canola oil in place of the butter, and regular milk soured with some vinegar instead of buttermilk. I find that 2 1/2 cups of milk is just way too much and the batter is very thin. 2 cups usually will do it for the consistency I like. Thanks for a great recipe!

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2008
These are sooo good. I followed the recipe exactly and at first thought that the batter may be too wet but it baked perfectly. I baked mine about 17 minutes each batch. The icing compliments the cookies nicely but they are also good without. Thanks for this awesome recipe!

Slow Cooker Veggie-Beef Soup with Okra

Great throw together recipe. My household doesn't really do hamburger meat so I used ground turkey instead. Added a little worsestershire as some suggested. Great over rice. Thanks!

Slow Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
When my hubby went back for seconds, I knew that it was good...but when he went back for thirds! I knew this one was a definate keeper. I also bought the "beef for stir fry" to quicken my prep time. I added a few extra spices when I was browning the meat and also added a little worsesterchire as suggested by others. I used beef broth instead of water and bouillon and didn't have any cornstarch so I left that out. Omitted the salt and added the red and green bell peppers at the end. It turned out so delish. The flavor was wonderful!

Southern Seafood Gumbo

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2008
This gumbo was super easy to make. My hubby thought it was pretty good but I thought it needed a bit more of "something" but now quite sure what. I give it a 5 for ease of prep and a 4 for flavor. Great quick recipe to have when you feel like gumbo but don't want to slave all or spend the money! Thanks!

Hummus Pizza

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2008
I used the Hummus III recipe from this site and added some sun dried tomatoes to the hummus. I bought whole wheat Boboli pizza crust and topped it with some garlic, roma tomatoes, spinach, bell peppers, artichoke hearts and mozarella/provolone cheese blend. YUM! My husband raved! This with a side salad made a nice light dinner. Definately a keeper!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2007
This recipe is excellent! I made apple pie for the first time using this recipe on Thanksgiving. I followed the recipe almost exactly, only adding a little vanilla and cinnamon as some others had suggested. This recipe is fool proof. I even forgot to peel my apples and it still was a delicious hit! This recipe is a definate keeper!

Irresistible Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2007
I made this for my dad on Thanksgiving because he LOVES pecan pie. I used a Mrs. Smith's frozen pie crust and followed the filling recipe exactly as it stated. The pie looked beautiful and it tasted oh so good! This one is definitely a keeper. My husband and dad were competing for slices! I can't wait to make it again!

Angel Hair Pasta with Shrimp and Basil

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2007
This was very good and super easy to make! I used only two 14.5 oz cans of tomatoes as many others recommended and dried basil because I didn't have any fresh stuff. I also added red pepper flakes and Italian seasoning to give it more flavor. I then used whole wheat linguini and the sauce stuck fine. Make sure to let the sauce reduce by half so it's a little thicker, that way it will stick to the pasta better. My husband loved it and went back for seconds. I will definately make this again!
