Quick Yeast Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2013
I can't believe the reviews! I followed the recipe exactly after reading many reviews. The dough was exactly what I expected. I baked as tear-apart rolls instead of in muffin tins. After ten minutes in the oven (per instructions), I removed them and brushed with melted butter, and returned to the oven for 2 more minutes under the broiler to give them a golden color. They sure looked pretty. Then my husband (who could eat a dozen good yeast rolls at a time) tore into one and cringed. They were not raw, as in there was no part "uncooked", but the overwhelming yeast smell and doughy texture immediately turned him off. So I threw the whole pan back in the oven for another 12 minutes, and the same reaction. While the texture of the dough looks promising, there is WAY too much yeast, and the flavor is terrible. Will NOT make again and cannot recommend on any point.

The Best Double Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2011
Fabulous double chocolate cookies! Exactly what I was looking for! I didn't have margarine, so subbed 1/2 butter 1/2 shortening. Misread the recipe, and added 1 1/3 cup cocoa instead of 1/3 cup...a mistake with delightful results! Did not grease the cookies sheets. Tried baking three ways: rolled into balls, dropped by Tbsp, and rolled into balls then flattened to 1/2" using a cup bottom dipped in cocoa and sugar. The flattened ones came out the best, didn't spread at all, just baked up soft and chewy, with a cracked sparkly top. Lowered temp to 350* and baked for full 10 minutes. Perfection!

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2008
My new conquest is bread, and this is a winner! I subbed white sugar for the honey, I may try brown next time for a richer flavor. I mixed it in my KitchenAid, but did all the kneading by hand. The flavor was spot on, the texture was perfect, it rose beautifully (which is an accomplishment for me!), and it kneaded really nicely. I switched the flours, used whole wheat bread flour, and all purpose, respectively, with no adverse effects. I ended up making buns with half the dough, and a giant loaf of bread with the other. Both are wonderful! Highly recommend, especially for beginners!

California Grilled Veggie Sandwich

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2007
Wow, this was better than I could have imagined! I omitted the lemon juice from the mayo mix, and added some basil pesto instead. The idea of squash in a sandwich kinda turned me off, so I replaced it with a portobello mushroom. I didn't melt the cheese on top, just grilled the focaccia, slathered on the mayo, piled on the grilled veggies, and topped with cheese. The BEST sandwich ever!
