Black Halloween Punch

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2009
To keep the hand from melting too fast, make it out of gelatin. It will eventually fall apart but the chunks add another spooky effect. Make sure to use an NON-LATEX glove as some people have severe latex allergies.

Spicy Lentil Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2008
This recipe turned out very well. It is a little spicy for me so next time I will cut down on the cayenne but that is a preference thing. I had no trouble with having too much liquid as some reviewers did. In fact after cooking the lentils I had to add more water to smooth out the dip to a lighter consistency..

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2007
Very yummy and creamy. I made for sons B-day party - kids and parents had seconds. I have been asked for the recipe. I only used cheddar, mozza, and velveeta as it was all I had on hand.

Slow Cooker Sweet and Tangy Chicken

Yummy and easy. I used a cheaper BBQ sauce and still had success with it. Family loved it.

Chocolate Sour Cream Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2007
Very good recipe. I used pepperment extract and then topped the fudge with crushed candy canes for some christmas fudge. I also used cocoa powder and some extra butter as I was out of choc squares. It still turned out smooth and creamy.

Pink Fluff

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2007
I am giving 4 stars as I modified the recipe so it wasn't so sweet. I used whipped cream rather than cool whip and frozen blueberries rather than pie filling. I also used blue jello. It was a hit at my sons Winnie the Pooh b-day party as Eyeores Rainclouds. I served with a dab of Cool Whip on the top. The other parents loved that the kids were eating cottage cheese and fruit! I poured the jello slowly into the blender after the cheese was smooth. It blended with no sign of any jello granules.

Tina's Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2007
The flavour was really yummy. I only gave it 4 stars because it did not thicken up for me so was much more a sauce than a dip.

Pumpkin Cake III

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2007
I used 3/4 cup oil and 1/4 cup apple sauce plus a little extra pumpkin. Very moist and yummy. I also added a little extra spice as I enjoy a bit more flavour. My husband doesn't usually like anything thats not chocolate but he told me this is really good.

Creamy Butternut Squash With Cinnamon Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2007
I substituted leeks and roasted the squash. I also added roasted parsnips as I had a pile of them. My guests loved the soup and I was asked for the recipe.

Makes a ton of balls. I rolled them in breadcrumbs. Lots of rave reviews and the kids loved them.

Baked Parmesan Perch

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2007
The fish cooked beautifully but the flavour was lacking. The paprika overwhelmed the basil and parma, so it was very one-dimensional. I look forward to trying different flavour combos.

Love the marinade. I boiled it 5 minutes to use as a glaze over the meat while cooking. Lots of compliments.

Jiffy Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2007
Perfect. Cinnamon rolls done with a tea biscuit base are a maritime tredition. My husband always complains that he prefers them to the yeast ones I always make. These turned out really good. Had to knead in a little flour but any bread recipe calls for altering flour amounts due to flour moisture, weather, or altitude. I didn't make the glaze as they were really good without it. My two preschoolers "helped" and they stii turned out great.

Black Bean Salsa

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2007
Made a few times now. Used frozen corn rather than canned, fresh tomatoes, lots of cilantro and added cumin, and crushed peppers along with some green tabasco. Also added some lime juice. Husband loved it. Very fresh tasting with the fresh ing but does need to sit a couple of hours for the flavours to mingle

Boston Brown Bread III

will definately make again. My husband and kids loved it and it was so easy. Used treacle rather than molasses as I had to use it up. Pretty much the same thing though.

Potato Pancakes I

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2007
Great recipe. I prefer the texture and taste if I first soak potatoe in water to remove the starch, then squeeze it in a towel to get rid of the excess liquid. Also great with some apple shredded directly into the mix.

Really quick, easy and tasty. I added a teaspoon of lemon juice because I like a touch of citris.
