David's Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2012
Interesting cake... 1) The batter is really, really think - like a very soft play-doh 2) the texture is nice/cuts nice/has a nice crumb to it/not grainy as others have mentioned 3) its not sweet. It just doesn't taste like cake. Even frosted, you feel like you've frosted a muffin or piece of sweetened corn bread.

Gluten Free Snickerdoodle Chex® Mix

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2011
yummmmmm. I dislike it when someone reviews a recipe after making a ton of changes...and yet here I am doing the same thing. No chocolate or cinnamon chex to be found - i used rice/corn chex - I used 1/4 cup of a cinnamon sugar mix and 1/4 cup of smart balance and added 1/4 cup of chocolate chips. Next time I'll use WAY less butter and less sugar and leave out the chocolate chips.

Gluten-Free Irish Soda Bread

This was pretty tasty! I did use a super fine rice flour and only baked it for 30 minutes and it was perfect! Next time I might add in some raisins...Thanks for sharing!

Chicken and Broccoli Pasta

Delish! Enjoyed by every kid, yay! Not overly flavorful and perhaps a bit bland for an adult meal - but a good family meal for sure. I'll double the sauce/broccoli next time.

Holy wow - that is some goood stuff. I think next time I would like to have a more pronounced vanilla flavor - maybe even infuse the cream with vanilla bean....mmmmmm

Yowza!!! This was WAY too strong for us. I think you need to use frozen OJ concentrate to make this palatable. We salvaged it by adding a 3:1 ratio of frozen slush to more regular OJ...

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Very good scone recipe - not JUST like an authentic scone - but pretty good. These were served at a baby shower and were eaten up very quickly. I added some blueberries to some and sprinkled some with cinnamon and sugar.

Pie Crust III

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2003
This recipe was a piece of cake! (or pie!) Very simple and the end result was pretty good. It obviously isn't a buttery crust but it did have a good crumble and good taste. PLUS - I liked the fact that it was essentially a cholesterol free crust. Thanks!

White Russian Tiramisu

Reviewed: May 15, 2003
While this was very easy to make AND very tasty, I think next time I too will add some Cool Whip, the marsacpone/cream cheese mixture lacked a "fluffy" quality that is found with most authentic tiramisu. The taste of Kahula is VERY subtle, so if you want it more pronounced I suggest adding more. Also, putting the cocoa powder in a small sieve and then tapping it works great to sprinkle it evenly over the top. This tasted MUCH better after it sat overnight. Overall, a very yummy recipe, but it needs just a little tweaking to make it perfect!

Blueberry Peach Muffins

These really are delicious! They are a denser muffin than most and are also not incredibly sweet (which I think is a good thing). I always substitute 1/2 whole wheat flour and they come out amazing! I have made them about 5 times for different get togethers and there are never any left.

Chocolate Eclair Dessert

Holy Moly...This is good! This is way too simple to taste this good! I halved the recipe and made it in a 9x9 dish and it worked out perfectly. I also used fat free whipped toppping and skim milk and still it was so yummy! Letting it chill over night is key as the crackers take on a nice chewy consistency. I hvae shared this with my husband, my mom, 2 neighbors (I had to get rid of some or I would have eaten it for breakfast, lunch and dinner!) and ALL REALLY enjoyed it! This will be perfect for a potluck-YUM!!!

YUM!! Perfect white bread! I use plain ol' yeast and plain ol' flour and prefer the taste over that made with the listed ingredients (it has the consistency of a major grocery chains famous french bread). Super simple, totally foolproof!

Banana Bread V

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2002
This is delicious! The perfect traditional banana bread. This loaf bakes of VERY moist and stays that way for days (if it lasts that long!). I omitted the nuts and my toddler loves it. My husband thought it was outrageous. I bake mine in a glass dish so I decrease the temp by about 25 degress and bake it for about 50-60 minutes. This is a keeper! THANK YOU 4H! :)

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2002
This was very tasty! I followed the recipe to a "T" adding only some bread crumbs on top. The extra T of butter on top is probably not needed. This was a very good home made mac n' cheese. If you're looking for a creamy box style look elsewhere. This ia a nice firm dish with a great rich cheese flavor! The addition of velveeta gives it just enought creaminess. I loved it and so did my family! Next time I think I will also cut back on the amount of butter you toss into the pasta. PS. If you're on a diet....watch out!!!

Peach Cobbler II

Hmmm...I'm not sure what happened here. I am a avid baker and love to try new recipes. The whole boiling water thing intrigued me! However, the ending product was a big puddle of slop, granted it tasted great, but looked just like slop. Perhaps my peaches were too juicy. I did use a 9x9 dish, it boiled over BIG time, I also cooked it a lllloooonnnggg time...Oh well!

Overnight Bubble Bread

This was incredibly easy! The only draw back is that it isn't the prettiest thing to look at. I took it to a potlock and it sat there until someone took a piece out and saw what was lying under it-yummy stuff! Maybe dusting it with powdered sugar or something to make it look more appealing.
