About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy trying new things, both taste wise and cooking wise. I would have to say that I enjoy baking the most, probably because I have a massive sweet tooth.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My paternal grandmother was a fantastic cook, she could take the toughest cut of meat and transform it into a melt in your mouth treat. She was also a wonderful baker, every year I would make pies with her for Thanksgiving. My mother is also a great cook, my family and I enjoy many of the recipes that she has passed down through the years. I am now the annual hostess of Thanksgiving dinner, a tradition that my mother has passed down to me.
My cooking triumphs
What I thought was a cooking tragedy turned out to be a triumph. One Thanksgiving I accidentally put the turkey in the oven upside down. Hours later when it was time to carve the turkey, I discovered that yes indeed, it had been cooked upside down. It was the best tasting, juiciest turkey we have ever eaten! I now intentionally cook chicken and turkey upside down.
My cooking tragedies
I can't think of any right now, my mind must have blocked them out...too painful.

Quick Tuna Casserole
It doesn't get much better than this! Super easy and super delicious. I followed the recipe exactly other than using diced fresh steamed asparagus as I had no peas. Wonderful, thanks Tresa.

Baked French Fries I
These were really delicious. I added a little fresh black pepper and seasoned with salt prior to cooking. Baked at 400 degrees for 35 minutes turning halfway through, I will add another 10 minutes next time to crisp them up a bit but I think 450 would cause them to burn.
