Homemade Maple Syrup

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2012
This recipe saved my daughter's birthday sleep-over. Making pancakes for the girls' I realized NO SYRUP!!!! Ugghhhh! Thankfully I found this recipe and the girls loved it. I added a tsp. of butter and a cinnamon stick:) Cooked longer to try and thicken it up and it its cooling off the burner as we speak and I suspect it will thicken up even more.

Applesauce Oat Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2011
Loved the smell and flavor of the ingredients. I used homemade applesauce that I had made earlier in the week. Also used the cream cheese II recipe as suggested. I found the cake to be easy to make but was not as happy about how dense and heavy the cake was. Very thick n heavy, but again good flavor.

Slow Cooker Beef Barley Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2011
Took into account the comments about being a little bland. Browned stew meat w/ diced yellow onion and thyme. Added to the crockpot 1 1/2 cans beef broth, 6 cups water and 4tbsp. of beef granules. Then added sliced carrots, can of corn and can of diced tomoatoes. Two hrs. before serving I added the barley. So yummy!! My husband loved it and my very fussy, no veggie eating teenager LOVED it also. Will definitely make again.

Creamy Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2010
My first attempt at making a blueberry pie was w/ this recipe and it was phenomenal! I made the recommended recipe changes; 3/4 c sugar and added vanilla and cinnamon. Then also used 1/4 c. white sugar w/ 1/4 brown sugar for crumble topping. It was so delicious. Perfect texture, not too runny. My children even loved it. Only thing I would change is that I didn't take the time to make a homemade crust :) Thank you for sharing such a wonderful recipe!

Moore's Cranberry Gelatin Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2009
Absolutely loved this recipe!! It will from now on be a Thanksgiving staple at my home. Followed the recipe w/ few exceptions. Used one cranberry flavored gelatin and one raspberry. Also left out the grapes. The flavor is amazing. All of them blend together beautifully. My favorite is the orange smell and flavor. Thank you for sharing your recipe :)

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
I really can't say enough about how easy, tasty and JUICY this chicken is!! Due to lacking ingredients in my pantry I did make some minor changes. I substituted garlic powder for the onion powder and also placed some chopped onion in the cavity w/ the celery. I also used unsalted butter rather than margarine, some of which I also placed up under the skin. To my whole families delight this was the best and juiciest chicken we have ever eaten!! To be certain it is much better than any store bought broasted chicken!!! Only thing I would change is using all the wonderful drippings to make gravy and serve w/ mashed potatoes next time!! Thanks for such a wonderful recipe!!!

Best-Ever Texas Caviar

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
Really liked this recipe. I read the reviews and took some suggestions. I used navy beans instead of pinto beans, and half the cilantro suggested per my personal taste. Only complaint was too much oil. I will cut back on that next time I make it. There will be a next time.

Monster Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
This recipe makes a huge batch!! I made them to sell at a food booth for a swim meet and I still have dough left. I followed the recipe with the exception of the coconut and added m&m's to appeal to kids. I made larger than normal scoops on the cookie sheet and the came out very nice. The edges do brown up quickly as a typical butter cookie does. Next time I will try making with crisco as I prefer a little chewier cookie. Prepare for a work out with this recipe. I had to even give my Kitchen Aid a break!

Texas-Style Baked Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2008
Wow, were these good!! Used 1 lb. sausage as I was suggested in the reviews and a 1/2 can of green chilis per guests tastes. I was very concerned they would be to spicey for a particular guests, but he loved them. I too have never been a big baked bean fan, but I'm now converted!! The recipe was easy to follow and the taste is supreme!

Wave Your Flag Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2008
This was a very easy, light recipe. Went over very well at our 4th of July cookout. All my guests loved the cake, however, I personally would've preferred doing a jello-poke-cake instead. I like the idea of the jello being incorporated into the cake rather than forming a different layer on top of it. The textures didn't appeal to me as well seperated. Again, very easy and received well by guests.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2008
Wonderful tasting and easy to make. This recipe gets an A+ from me. I followed the reipe exactly, and to the reviews to heart and used a good BBQ sauce. Very easy to throw in the crockpot. Very tasty. Only downside was one of my four kids didn't like it. Too spicey for her. Will definitely make again and share with other busy Moms.

Gobble Up Granola Snacks

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2008
This was a wonderfully quick and easy snack, and it tasted GREAT! I did add 1/2 c. wheat germ and increased the corn syrup and brown sugar each by a 1/4 c. to accommodate the added dry ingredient. I also couldn't resist balancing my healthy ingredient with some M&M's! WOW! My whole family loved them! We'll be making this on a regular basis, I'm sure.

Whipped Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
Very yummy! I made these for Christmas Eve dinner, where everyone is asked to bring a dish. Everyone from kids to adults liked them. I added some salt and pepper and then used 1/2 packet of the dry Hidden Valley Ranch Buttermilk dressing mix. It gave them a really good flavor.

Fettuccine Alfredo V

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2007
My family, ages 2-35 loved this recipe! I had prepared an alfredo sauce a while ago that had an egg in the recipe and my family and I loved it. Unfortunately, I lost the recipe(sticky fingered 2yr. old!) I was thrilled to find this recipe and try it. Will keep this one handy as I expect to use it over and over again!!!!

BBQ Dry Rub

Really good recipe for the grill. Everyone in the family enjoyed it. Grilling formed a really nice crust on the outside and a moist meat on the inside. Great flavor and very easy to do.

Honeysuckle Pineapple

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2007
I've tried grilled pineapple before and really liked it, but this time I'm not sure if I like it as much. I'm not sure if I had my grill too hot, but the pineapple came out with too much of a smokey flavor that I did not like.
