Grilled Venison Backstrap

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
This was incredible. I usually start this in the morning, marinate in cider for 6 hours, then bbq for 6. Christmas night I was outside in 10 degrees cooking this on the grill for dinner. Nothing I would do to change this. We use maple bacon and it is the family's new fave meal. And the leftovers are almost better the next day - cold!

Simple Country Ribs

Reviewed: May 29, 2007
Excellent! I usually shy away from ribs as I can never get them quite right. When I told my teen I was making ribs on the grill tonight he said, "Awwwwww. Everything always tastes burnt on the grill." I felt like I was setting myself up for failure before I even began! This recipe was SO easy and SO quick and SO delicious! I probably wouldn't use two bottles of sauce next time... but the Sweet Baby Ray's was only 2 for $3 so no big deal. I used Country style ribs that were on sale for $1.19/lb and I got 4.5 lbs. Plenty for a family of four! I usually like my ribs with a thicker, stickier sauce...but these were fantastic! Thanks!

Lemon Pepper Pasta Seafood

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2007
This came out excellent! I hate to cook and was having a friend over and didn't want take-out. I added some lemon zest, otherwise kept the recipe the same. Only problem - no leftovers. My two picky kids ate every bite. Thanks!

Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2008
I have very picky kids - and this recipe is now on the regular rotation despite them having hated meatloaf their whole lives! I usually make it as is. Sometimes will change up by using ground turkey instead. Have used a packet of Ramen seasoning when out of Dry Onion Soup. Have used cheez-its if out of Ritz, too. Best tip: put two slices of bread at bottom of pan before filling with meatloaf, and they will absorbe ALL the grease! Super excellent recipe!

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2008
Yeah - this is the Best. I've prepared as the recipe states (overnight in the fridge), as well as just putting the spices on & In, and popping it directly in the oven. It is delicious, tender, moist...perfect. ONLY change I make...I don't have any white pepper so I double the black. I make double the spice mix so I have extra on hand. I've used the rub for chicken breasts on the grill, steak on the grill, mixed with ground beef for burgers...and the best yet was for veggies. The husband hates veggies - but I mix up a little of this rub with some grapeseed oil (better than Olive!) and brush it on veggies and throw them on the grill. He'll eat any veggies now. The spice part of the recipe should have a separate listing - it is SO versatile and so delicious. Thanks for the Perfect recipe!

Cranberry Raspberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
I did tweak this a little! Used apple cider instead of merlot (I would like to try with the merlot, but the rest of the family abstains) and used frozen raspberries. I'm now asked to bring this every holiday!

Easy Deviled Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2009
This was great! I was looking for a different recipe - we always have the same old thing. Very easy! I liked the idea of the stuffing instead of breadcrumbs (which are good - but same old!) I used StoveTop chicken flavor stuffing and crushed it up good in a ziploc with a rolling pin. As another user suggested, I also sprinkled on some paprika with the salt and pepper. My younger son - skinny and a picky eater - ate more than 8 oz worth of this! Thanks for the new fave!

Strawberry Rhubarb Sauce

Reviewed: May 18, 2013
I didn't have any cornstarch so I won't rate based on thickness. I followed the advice of several others who went with 4 cups rhubarb, 1 cup strawberries. After it was cooked, I separated it into one part more solids, and one part that was more of a liquid. It was delicious, although I felt that the orange juice was a little overpowering. I made it a second time, but added about a shot of bourbon (to die for). Still, I think next time I'll do something to reduce the orange-y taste. Regardless, it was so good over Ben & Jerry's vanilla ice cream. Looking forward to pancakes tomorrow morning...
