About this Cook
I have been cooking since I was a very small girl. My grandmother taught me to make biscuits, and I remember sitting on a stool next to the counter watching her. I got the important job of cutting the biscuits. My Mom also let me start helping her when I was young. I would have the task of browning ground beef or stirring batter. I think teaching children about cooking and different foods is very important.
My favorite things to cook
I am an experimenter with all kinds of different foods, but have grown to love Latin foods. I am known as the salsa queen and the goddess of guacamole by my friends. I also love Italian foods.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love to bake birthday cakes for friends and family. I bake a Turtle Cake from this site and also do this chocolate raspberry cake that I get requests for all the time. I think there's nothing more special than sharing something homemade with someone on their special day.
My cooking triumphs
Whenever I create something new. I have an orzo pasta salad I need to write down and submit to the site. I love being creative and love to see something come from my mind and create something delicious.
My cooking tragedies
I cannot master my husband's grandmother's pound cake. No matter how hard I try, I cannot get it right. Hopefully soon I'll unlock that secret.

Cocktail Meatballs
Fantastic recipe! I baked my meatballs and then transferred to the crockpot to simmer away. I won best appetizer dish at my Christmas Party with these! The cranberry sauce is a nice change from the traditional grape jelly.

Fried Corn with Smoked Sausage
This was very good. I gave 4 stars as I think that I will improve on it next time. I got the idea of morphing it into a deconstructed shrimp boil. Next time will add some shrimp and a can of drained diced tomatoes. Perhaps with a little chicken broth and old bay and crusty bread for dipping into the juices. Great recipe to get you started customizing!

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches
Great recipe! I ended up using pork butt and some boneless ribs I found at the last minute. I also ended up straining off most of the liquid and adding in another bottle of sauce to make it thicker in consistency.
