Just ME!
About this Cook
I live in southern AZ, and look forward to each next gardening season. This past summer’s garden was mainly tomatoes, peppers and herbs. We had some strawberries, spinach, watermelons, and onions, but much from those. I love cooking healthy meals with LOTS of veggies. Eating healthy is very important to my husband and I and we love using our organic homegrown veggies for every meal of the day.
My favorite things to cook
Speggettie (with homegrown tomatoes and basil), Guacamole, and Soups.
My favorite family cooking traditions
German Christmas cookies, Thanksgiving of course, and my mom letting us lick the bowl of batter after she was done.
My cooking triumphs
I have become very health conscious in my cooking. I grew eating heavy German meals and a lot of sweets. So that is a definite triumph.
My cooking tragedies
Although I grew up in a German house, and my mother baked non-stop, I'm a terrible baker. I seem to mess up all the time when it comes to cookies, cakes or pastries.

Super Al's Cocktail Sauce
This recipe is the perfect basic cocktail sauce recipe. It taste like fresh store bought sauce, its absolutely delicious. You can do anything to it to make it your own. I used creamy style horseradish, which tasted amazing. I also added fresh ground pepper and red pepper flakes to make it spicier. It is awesome if you can a small amount of chopped fresh basil, parsley or even cilantro for a little something extra. I will definitely never buy cocktail sauce again.

Maple Salmon
This was a simple recipe, and tasted the same. I added brown sugar which created a nice sweet/tangy flavor. Also, make double or triple the sauce... for after baking.

Goat Cheese Salmon
The goat cheese is a nice match for the salmon, though very rich. Thicker pieces will work best for this dish. The mayo-mustard was ok, very rich dish.
