Spinach Basil Pesto

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2013
This turned out fabulous! I listened to a few of the other tips to use real parmesan instead of the grated Kraft stuff. Will be making this again!

Quick n Easy Crab Cakes

Great, easy recipe. I cut down the amount of crackers and panko though because the amount listed seemed a bit much.

Whole Grain Waffles

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
Great basic recipe for healthy waffles! I didn't have applesauce on hand so I just increased the canola oil. And I used half a cup of oatmeal instead of flaxseed and pecans (I had no wheatgerm). Came out delicious!

Chocolate Cookie Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2010
Good recipe-I used it to frost the Black Forest Cake II here. I took the advice of others and substituted melted chocolate squares (dark chocolate) for the cocoa powder. This was a very yummy frosting for the cake and everyone raved about the whole dessert!

Black Forest Cake II

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2010
Good recipe and it was a hit for my father-in-law's b-day party. But I believe it's because I made the following modifications: 1) used cake flour; 2) soaked bing cherries in cherry brandy overnight; 3) used the buttercream frosting for in between layers, but used a different recipe for chocolate buttercream to frost the outside of the cake and just used the the whipped cream in this recipe for garnish/decoration along with cherry brandy soaked maraschino cherries; 4) used cherry brandy for the liquor instead of Kirschwasser; 5) Used Hershey's Special Dark Cocoa so the cake was dark chocolate (it is black forest not brown forest); 6) prepped the cake pans with the parchment circles and sprayed pan and circles with cooking/baking spray & dusted with cocoa powder (instead of flour). My in-laws used to have a German friend who made black forest cake for them a couple of times and my FIL said my version beat hers without a doubt! He said hers was so dry as to be inedible and this recipe came out super moist!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
Excellent and incredibly easy recipe! I followed some of the tips and mixed a rub of herbs and a bit of flour onto the meat and seared it in butter and garlic first before putting it in the crock pot. I used the two cans of soup but instead of water I did a quarter cup of sherry and a cup of beef broth. The meat was surrounded by potatoes, carrots and onions and I added some mushrooms just before I planned to serve. I let this cook for 13 hours and it was incredibly tender and flavorful! Got raves from my family for Christmas dinner.

Yummy! I used angel hair instead and a little more chile paste (we really love spicy food). My fiance now requests this dish specifically on a regular basis.

Easy Key Lime Pie I

Reviewed: May 31, 2008
This was my first time making and eating a key lime pie. Key lime pie is one of my fiance's favorite desserts and he LOVED this one. I made one using a homemade graham cracker and ginger snap crust and one with a graham cracker, ginger snap and coconut crust (the latter is the best). Great summertime dessert!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: May 31, 2008
Great death-by-chocolate-type cake! Every chocolate ingredient called for in this recipe I used the dark variety. Plus I topped it with the chocolate ganache from this site which is also made with dark chocolate. Would you like some more chocolate with your chocolate?!

Very easy to make and great to use on a variety of deserts. I've used this on a white cake and as a garnish on a cheesecake. I love the light texture!

Chocolate Ganache

Excellent! So incredibly easy to make! I've used this on the Too Much Chocolate Cake and One Bowl Chocolate Cake (both on this site). I've used dark rum as called for in the recipe and also tried Malibu Rum for a little something interesting in the flavor.

Restaurant-Style Tequila Lime Chicken

Reviewed: May 31, 2008
We love this chicken recipe because it's very tasty and easy to make. We don't make the sauce (attempting to cut some of the calories and fat) and just use the marinade portion, then grill the chicken and top with low-fat cheese and an avocado slice.

Brandy Flamed Peppercorn Steak

Reviewed: May 31, 2008
Excellent! Fiance LOVED this and said I can make this ANYTIME. And I got a kick out of lighting the contents of the pan on fire!haha My only change next time is to cook the steaks 6 minutes on each side...I did 7 on one and 8 on the other and it was just a tad bit more done than we usually order (we like medium).

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: May 31, 2008
Awesome! My fiance was craving a chocolate cake and I found this recipe. What a hit! Used safflower oil (the one healthy item in the whole mix) and I didn't use a mixer...just mixed by hand. Topped with chocolate ganache from this site. We each had a two slices and I kept a couple slices for my son and my Mom...the rest my fiance took to work and it was devoured.

Indian Chicken Curry II

Reviewed: May 31, 2008
Very good! This was my first attempt at homemade curry chicken (not using a mix) and my fiance and I both really liked it, so it's a keeper. I followed some of the suggestions I saw and upped the curry to 5 tablespoons and dry-roasted the spices first. I used shallots instead of onions and also added carrots, red bell pepper and mushrooms. Instead of cayenne at the end, I used Hot Shot which is a combo of red and black peppers. Only used a dash of lemon juice and no sugar. I served it on top of couscous and it was delicious!
