About this Cook
I love cooking for my family, which consists of my wonderful and loving husband, my amazing Mom and precious son and also my brother and my in-laws who all live nearby.
My favorite things to cook
Cakes, pies, cookies and I'm learning to make bread now, too! I love to cook in general and thoroughly enjoy experimenting/trying out new dishes/new cuisines. But I really, really love baking!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mom is from the Philippines, so pretty much any Filipino dish she made is a long-loved tradition. Our (my brother & I) favorites are her pancit and lumpias. I must learn how to make these soon, so the recipe and techniques don't get lost.
My cooking triumphs
The white chocolate raspberry cheesecake I baked (recipe from this site)!!! It came out perfect and I decorated it with edible flowers, put it in a cake box and the hostess whose house I brought it to thought for sure that I'd bought the cake not made it! I got RAVE reviews for that cheesecake!
My cooking tragedies
I attempted beef stroganoff once and totally over sour-creamed it...ewww!!!

Spinach Basil Pesto
This turned out fabulous! I listened to a few of the other tips to use real parmesan instead of the grated Kraft stuff. Will be making this again!

My Crab Cakes
Great, easy recipe. I cut down the amount of crackers and panko though because the amount listed seemed a bit much.

Whole Grain Waffles
Great basic recipe for healthy waffles! I didn't have applesauce on hand so I just increased the canola oil. And I used half a cup of oatmeal instead of flaxseed and pecans (I had no wheatgerm). Came out delicious!
