I've made this pie twice now and not only is it delicious, but it's also incredibly easy. Based on prior reviews, I made a few modifications: I only ended up using 3 apples (all that would fit), I added cinnamon, flour, and a dash of vanilla to the apples, and i pre-baked the bottom crust for 8 min at 350. This pie is awesome and looks bakery quality (each time guests saw it they assumed it was bakery bought!). Thanks for a great recipe! UPDATE: I've made this pie *both* ways now; adding the butter mixture to the apples AND pouring over the top. No difference. At all. So, I rec following the recipe and doing as it suggests so you can prepare the lattice while the butter mixture simmers. I also no longer pre-bake the bottom crust. So, basically, I now just follow the ORIGINAL recipe (go figure), with the exception of adding cinn/flour/vanilla to the apples and using a variety of apples (granny smith, mac, and gala/fiji-usually a total of 5-6). If you haven't yet made this pie yet, MAKE IT! EDIT: I accidentally made this as the recipe states, w/out cinnamon, and did not like it nearly as much as I d w/the addition of cinnamon!
