Fresh Pear Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2011
Very moist and flavorful. I did add fresh grated ginger since I had some in the fridge and a drizzle of vanilla glaze. Everyone loved it! Most people did think that it was an apple cake though.

Favorite Corn Bread

Nice and light. I did only add 1 large egg because that's all I had but it was still wonderful!

Crispy Orange Roughy

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2009
The most powerful flavor is potato. Mushy potato underneath even though I put it on as thin as possible. Could not even taste the lemon or oregano.

Home Made Farmer's Cheese

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2009
Thanks Mylin! I used 2% milk. I even blundered by putting the lemon juice in before cooking. After cooking I did put in some additional vinegar and "poof" it was like magic when the curds formed! Fun for the kids to watch too. Will never buy ricotta or farmer's cheese again! Will try with some fresh herbs as a spread for crackers, yum...

Ribbon Meatloaf

Reviewed: May 16, 2009
I used only beef since we raise beef cows and have ample supply. Husband and I really liked it. 8-year-old daughter hated the "stuff" in the middle even after I explained that it was cheese. Usually in her opinion everything is better with cheese on it but it was a no go. Will make it again but not extend the ribbon to the end for her.

Southwestern Rice Salad

Reviewed: May 16, 2009
It was very oily with the dressing. Good flavor though. I was the only one in my family that would eat it, including my husband, who will usually eat anything.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: May 16, 2009
Not too spicy for my 8-year-old daughter but very flavorful. Great recipe as I have been trying to keep from using any prepackaged foods.

Pizza Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2009
Family really enjoyed this. I did microwave the pepperoni for a few seconds to get rid of a ton of grease first. This was quick, easy and a hit.

Boston Baked Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2009
I did start with tomato sauce instead of ketchup to keep with the "nonprocessed" food idea. The flavor was awesome! Had to keep tasting them just to make sure.... My family comprised of myself, my husband and 7-year-old daughter actually ended up finishing up the entire batch in one setting. Am making them again today for a family party.

Hamburger Hash

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2009
My family really enjoyed this. I also added carrots, a little minced garlic, some parsley for color and thickened with corn starch. Reminded me of an inexpensive quick version of beef stew. Will be adding this into the meal "routine".

Hot Water Pie Crust II

Absolutely wonderful crust! I just threw everything into my food processor and it turned out beautiful! The crust is light, flaky and delicious. This will be my #1 recipe for crust from now on!

Barley, Lentil and Mushroom Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2009
I have to say this was one of the best soups I've made (and I make a lot of soups...)! The thyme compliments the mushrooms perfectly. I didn't have the dried mushrooms so sauted white button mushrooms instead. I did end up adding some homeade noodles and extra stock as I wanted this to be a meal soup, which added nicely to the soup.

Eggless Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2009
I used half whole wheat flour and half white and it worked very nicely. Great recipe for those of us with egg allergies!
