Sweet Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2009
I am rating the chips only. They were easy to make and very good. I make my own fruit salsa recipe, from red apple, grapes, strawberries, peach and preserves.

French Toast Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2008
Great recipe. Here are my changes. I used French Bread from a bakery, reduced the milk to 3/4 of a cup, combined the egg mixture with the bread in a bowl and tossed then let it sit for 10 minutes. Place in an 8 x 8 pan, top with 1 cup frozen blueberries, then 2 tbl brown sugar mixed with cinnamon and nutmeg. Baked covered at 350 for 15 minutes, uncovered for 30. Served with warm syrup. It was perfect.

Bev's Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2010
I made this with fresh OJ, but the dish didn't have any orange flavor. The onion soup was over powering. Didn't do anything for the dish other than make it extremely salty. It was easy, but I will be looking for another Orange Chicken recipe to try.

Christmas Cookies in a Jar

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
I decided to make these before I gave the jar as gifts. The flavor is wonderful. The only thing that I did differently is, I softened the butter rather than melt it. Next year I will give the jars as gifts. P.S. The DH & DS went crazy for them. When the DH saw me with a cookie in my hand, he said, "Those cookies are mine."

Reuben Sandwich I

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
I am not a fan of the Reuben, but I loved this recipe. I have made it several times and have not changed a thing. My husband and son, who are fans of the Reuben, also gave this 5 stars. Thanks for sharing a recipe that I was willing to make and eat.

Baked Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2010
This was so easy and so delicious. I used dried minced onion 2 tbls. in place of the minced onion. I put it together the day before and baked it the next day. I wish I had made more, I didn't have any leftover. Thanks for sharing.

Easy Pasta Fagioli

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
I have made this recipe twice. First as written. It was good, but needed changes. First used 1 (14oz) can diced tomatoes, 1 (14oz) can tomato sauce, 4 (16 oz) cans of chicken broth. The added 1/2 of a zucchini diced, 1 (10oz) pkg chopped spinach thawed and drained, and diced fresh mushrooms (about 1/2 cup). I also left out the pasta. I cooked the pasta and added when served.

Upside Down Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2010
The method of cooking upside down, does keep the turkey moist. I used 1 cup of apple cider instead of water, and that added a nice flavor to the turkey. As far as the cooking time, I had a 13.25lb fresh turkey and after 4 hours the turkey was still not cooked. I don't know how long it would have taken, because I was out of time. I cut the turkey up and put it on the grill. Will try again, but leave more time for cooking.

Ribboned Fudge Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2010
Perfection. If you like chocolate & cream cheese you will love this. I used a DH dark chocolate mix. To cut down on the fat I followed the low fat recipe on the box, used non fat cream cheese and non fat condensed milk. Then I added one cup of mini chocolate chips to the cream cheese mixture. Topped with the Satiny Chocolate Glaze from this site. I made this for a birthday at work. Everyone loved it, and I had several request for the recipe. Some people had a hard time believing that it was home made and that it started with a box cake mix.

Apricot-Mustard Grilled Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2009
This is so easy, quick and delicious. I left off the salt, but otherwise made as written. I had a little of the sauce left over that I added honey to and heated. Poured over cut tenderloin. Everyone loved it. I will be making this again.

Grandma's Peach French Toast

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2009
Enjoy! I made a few changes, added an egg and some milk. Sprinkle the bread slices with cinnamon and then cube. Mix into egg milk, vanilla mixture, let sit while I prepare the brown sugar (used only 1/2 cup) and butter (1/4 cup). It is peach season, so I sliced fresh peaches. This is so delightful, you could serve it as dessert.

Island Kielbasa in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2011
Great on sandwiches!!! I followed others advice and cut the sugar. I used 1 cup loosely measured, to 3 lbs of kielbasa, 1 1/2 cups ketchup, 1 can unsweetened pineapple tidbits. I cut the kielbasa lengthwise in half and to size for the rolls I had. Put in all in the crock pot with 2 green and 1 yellow peppers on top. Heated for 3 hours and served at a picnic. I was shocked to see when I went back for seconds that the crock was wiped cleaned. Everyone enjoyed them. The meatballs that usually go were left. This made fantastic sandwiches, and I will be making this recipe again. Thanks for sharing.

Pan Sauteed Chicken with Vegetables and Herbs

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2010
I made this recipe using the spices as written. I did use a mix of chicken breast and thighs to meet my family preferences. We all enjoyed it and would like to have it again. The only thing I would do next time, is use some of the zest from the lemon.

Loaded Potato Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2008
I have been making this soup for a couple of years. I just decided to write a review and to see what others were saying. This soup is the best. I always make it a day ahead so the flavors blend together. I add chopped green onion to the soup and serve it with green onion and bacon bits. Whenever there is a family get together I am asked to bring this soup.

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2012
I have made this and given as gifts for the last three Christmas's. The first year I made it as written, including the peanuts. The peanuts do not add much, so I have left them out the last two years. I have found that the oven temp at 250 gives me better results than the review suggested 200 degrees. I think this year I will try adding cranberries and almonds to one batch. I also use butter instead of margarine. Can't wait to make it again this year.
