I am recently widowed and am learning to enjoy my new lifestyle. I am now retired from a 30 year career and am enjoying maintaining my home, gardening, reading, spending time in my sewing room, and trying new recipes.

I love to bake for myself and my friends and family. My specialties are breads and scones. I am expanding my skills with soups and stews.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up in a meat and potatoes family and married a man who didn't like to experiment - "If it's green, don't eat it!" was his philosophy! I am enjoying enhancing meals with vegetables and grains. I continue to bake - desserts seem to be such a special time of meals. Everyone always likes dessert!
My cooking triumphs
My best meal in recent memory was my son's conformation dinner - baked ham with roasted potatoes, glazed carrots, and a wonderful carrot cake. Everyone was very impressed!
My cooking tragedies
As a young girl, I made 6 sour cherry pies without sugar! Needless to say, we threw them all out!
