Me in all my glory
About this Cook
Student in graphic design and photography. 27-year-old daughter of a Liberian father and an African-American mother.
My favorite things to cook
When it comes to cooking, I'm a "trysexual." Yet I'm partial to low-fat, vegetarian, quick and easy food. Paradoxically, I sometimes get the urge for the richest, fattiest food out there. In other words, I like both sushi and brie.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My father's from West Africa, so I'm always yearning for good African food. I also like the fried chicken, collard greens, and catfish of my mother's heritage.
My cooking triumphs
I'm just beginning, so I haven't had any real cooking triumphs. I can make good chili though--naturally better than the one in the can.
My cooking tragedies
Yesterday, I had TWO cooking tragedies. I undercooked fried chicken, and had to heat the rest of it in the microwave. I also put too much adobo seasoning in my Haitian rice and beans.

Salmon Loaf
Easy recipe to make. I didn't have crackers or milk on hand, so I subbed all-purpose flour for the crackers. I found the salmon to be salty already, and since I'm African-American and have a family history of hypertension, I decided to leave the salt out. Only one problem--the loaf fell apart when I tried to cut a piece, but that was okay because it tasted so good. Thanks.
