About this Cook
Well, I'm an army wife annd a new mom. I have a pretty hectic life with just those two elements. I love too cook, though I have to say I'm terrible at following most recipes. I love this site because I can search an ingridient I want to use and get a ton of ideas for it!
My favorite things to cook
Chicken enchiladas. Chinese food. I love making up my own marinades. Pot roast and pulled pork in the crock pot
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking with my husband whenever we get a chanc to do it together!
My cooking triumphs
Corned Beef on St. Patricks Day! That was the largest hunk of meat I'd ever attempted to cook, and it took an hour longer then it should have, along with two phone calls to my mother-in-law and one to my mom. But in the end, it was nothing less then triumphant!
My cooking tragedies
Up at my cabin, we didn't have much to work with, so my friend and I tried to make bread type food over the campfire we had going in the yard. The bread was edible, but tasteless, so we made it again with some garlic powder for taste. We also had thawed chicken breast from the freezer, and cooked that in a pan over the fire. Black on the outside and pink on the inside. Needless to say we went to sleep hungry that night! We did learn that it's darn near impossible to cook chicken over a fire though. Second batch of bread turned out pretty tasty however.

Gurkensalat (German Cucumber Salad)
This is kind of like what we serve at the German restaurant I work in. I don't like the addition of paprika, and we let our cucumbers cure for quite a bit longer than half an hour. I'll stick with our recipe.

The Best Thai Coconut Soup
I made this soup last night. Oh My Goodness! My husband, who hates coconut, loved the soup. I only added two cans of coconut milk and then I added one minced clove of garlic. So good!

Pasta With Tuna Sauce
Delicious and easy. I was a little skeptical about putting in a whole onion, but it worked. Cooking it down till it's tender makes it nice and sweet. Also if you use solid albacore tuna and let it sit in the sauce for a little while the meat soaks up the juices and caused the fish to actually have a nice fishy texture.
