Salmon with Brown Sugar Glaze

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
If you add about 1/2 cup of Jack Daniels whiskey, a little minced garlic, and a tsp of lemon juice to the base recipe marinade, it takes an already great recipe and makes it outstanding!!

Buffalo Chicken Wraps

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
These wraps are by far, my husband's favorite meal! I add about 4 tbsps of butter to the hot sauce mixture for taste, however, for ease of preparation and less mess while eating, I make a couple of modifications. I slice the chicken into long strips and I slice the celery stalk the long way and add it to the wrap whole to add support to the wrap. I also use 1 whole romaine lettuce leaf as a liner under the chicken, celery and bleu cheese. This way, nothing falls out and we get a little bit of everything in every bite! YUM!!

Pineapple Chicken Tenders

Reviewed: May 27, 2009
My husband does not like chicken, so I substituted 3 cubed boneless pork chops instead. WOW!! The only other change I made was to add veggies and some pineapple chunks to the skewers, and a little bit of ginger to the marinade. We didn't have any leftovers, which in and of itself is a rare occurence and a huge testament to the tastiness of this recipe :) Thanks!!

Anne's Hot Ham and Swiss Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
I've made this dip several times and EVERYWHERE I take it, I get begged for the recipe! I take it pot-lucks and parties, and it is ALWAYS the only dish that never has any leftovers! I've made it with ham, and also with sliced deli turkey and have had rave reviews both ways. The only change I've made is to add about 1 cup of sour cream and different kinds, and bigger amounts, of shredded cheeses, about 4 cups. Monterey Jack/Colby mix works really well with the turkey. I'm making it again this weekend, and I'm going to try shaved roast beef this time with Mozzarella cheese. Two BIG thumbs up to Anne for making me look like a genius!!

Parmesan Tomatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2008
I've made something similar to this for years. They are always finished the first night I make them! I've recently started using Dijonnaise as it's easier. I also add 2 tbsps each of very finely chopped red onion and celery and 1 large can of tuna mixed in as well. I top each slice with a mixture of shredded cheeses (whatever's in the fridge!), a splash of balsamic vinegar and a slice of Havarti cheese, and I bake them for 15-20 minutes and then broil for 1 minute to brown the cheese. YUM YUM YUM!!! A great light summer dinner served with fresh corn on the cob!

Rustica

Reviewed: May 26, 2008
I made this last night for dinner and was pleasantly surprised at the tastiness and ease of preparation. I did however make a couple of changes, but the base recipe still deserves 5 stars. I added 1/4 cup of dry white wine, 1 tbsp of lemon juice, and 1 cup each diced Roma tomatoes and white mushrooms to the garlic for the first 5 minutes of cooking. I also added 1 bag of baby spinach leaves at the end with the parsley until it was just wilted. It was pretty to look at as well as delicious. My husband who is a certified carnivore, actually enjoyed this, and suggested maybe adding some cooked shrimp next time I make it. **UPDATE** I made this again last night with a few additional changes, and it became an outstanding dinner!! I used the basic recipe. I added the baby spinach leaves, mushrooms, roma tomatoes, 1/2 cup white wine, and 1 tbsp lemon juice, like I wrote last time I made it, but last night I added diced cooked chicken, black olives, roasted red peppers, onions, some capers, sun-dried tomatoes (drained) and pine nuts to the mix...What a HUGE difference!! It was already a great recipe, but these few simple additions took it WAY over the top!! I sprinkled a handful of shredded Mozzarella cheese over top just before serving and served it with an artisan cheese bread and there wasn't a drop of leftovers!! Like the old Alka-Seltzer commercial said... "I can't believe we ate the whole thing"!! :)

Cola Onion Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 24, 2008
I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about the cola, but I'll admit it...I was WRONG!! I used 3 thick cut pork chops like the recipe stated, and they were so tender, they could literally be cut with the side of my fork! The taste was incredible. The only things I changed, was to add a can of sliced mushrooms, used beefy onion dry soup mix,and to cook everything in my crock-pot. I cooked it on high for 2 hours, then low for 4 hours. It also smelled really good while it was cooking. My neighbor came in while it was cooking and commented on the wonderful aroma coming from my kitchen! It was to incredibly easy to be so wonderfully tasty! I'll be making this again and again, and again...

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2007
I have never in all my life made cornbread, but for Thanksgiving with my family, I decided to give it a try. I settled on this recipe from all the recipes available on this site, and I actually even impressed myself! It came out absolutely perfect! The only substitution I made was using Splenda instead of sugar, since my dad is diabetic. I made 2 8" square pans, and they both were totally gone by the end of dinner! Now my dad calls and begs for this fabulous cornbread everytime he visits! My husband requests it at least once a week too! Thanks for a great recipe!
