Cake Pops by Duncan Hines®

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2013
Made these twice in two weeks. Made non cake eaters love it cuz u can choose how much you have. I heeded the warnings and tips and didn't have nearly as much trouble as people made it out to be. To make more simpler, I just baked the cake the night before and it cooled overnight and in the morning, I just roiled and dipped the balls and was done in just over an hour!!!!! Please do this, it will save you time. Also, I did not refrigerate them at all so I didn't have sweating problems or problems with the chocolate turning color. Please give them a try, you won't be sorry and they are definitely worth it, lots of fun, too!!

Broccoli Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2013
Made this yesterday and it was wonderful! The only thing I did differently was that I added a bit of pepper and garlic and marinated the chicken in pepper and garlic powder for a few minutes. This was really tasty and other than that, didn't change a thing. Not sure why negative reviews are so harsh, they must have done something wrong or skipped a step that was key because you can tell that even if I didn't add garlic, this STILL would have been really tasty! I never liked this dish till I came across this recipe. We loved it, and for us it's a keeper.

Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2012
Made this pie twice this month. Once just to try, then another for my mom. i've never made a banana cream pie before so this was a first for me. I usually try a recipe as is first, but after the first pie, although it had great flavor, I made a few small changes. First, I made my own graham cracker crust (another first for me outside of cheesecake) baked and cooled it. Then i used a little cornstarch instead of flour(this was purely a personal prefference, cornstarch just works better for me)and i did not bake this pie either. The eggs cook enough in the saucepan and the pudding is awesome! Then I chilled it for a few hours and right before serving, add a few dollops of whip cream, maybe even a few slivered almonds. This one is definately a keeper, thanks for the recipe.

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2012
First let me say that I've never cared for these types of similar looking cookies like the ones you see in the store.(always hard, never enough jam) but thought the hubby might like them so I made these for him last night and WOW!!! LIFE CHANGING!! Not only were they a huge hit with him, but this is by far, the best I've tasted....seriously, the flavors are awesome! Followed the recipe exactly except I chilled the dough 30 mins before rolling, and used apricot and seedless blackberry jams. I also made 2 cookies with plum jelly just as a test, and that was really good too! It made 36 beautiful, perfect looking cookies!! I had a lot of fun making these as he distracted me many times in excitement, :) ... My favorite thing about it is that i got to add the amount of preserves i want. ...My only regret? Is that i didnt take another reviewer's advice and make a second batch. To all those who said they only make these at holiday times once a year: I honestly don't know how you do it, but hats off, ladies-I'm not that strong. LOL I will be making another batch tomorrow cuz they're going fast...so irresistible...

Wonderful recipe! I've been making changes to our diet as far as going organic and also as gluten free as possible. This was a keeper and with the diet I'm on, this was perfect; healthy and filling. I even served with fresh berries for a treat. Thank you for sharing.

Sauteed Swiss Chard with Parmesan Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
This was a really nice surprise! Hubby & I've never had Swiss Chard before and werent sure how it would taste but this really won us over! I made the recipe exactly as written and it was like we were eating something from an ellegant restaurant! He was asking for more of this the very next night and well, that's never happened before!! :-) Anyway, I'm growing beets and heard that the leaves can be used like swiss chard so since we cant really get enough of this new favorite, I'm thinking of throwing some in being that the chard does shrink and well, I just want more!! Thank you Danny for a wonderful recipe that I'll be making very often!

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2011
Just made these this morning and not only did they make the house smell lovely while baking, they were fantastic!!! I added 1 tsp. vanilla and a bit of cinnamon to the batter just because I love vanilla and cinnamon and they were excellent. Nothing beats a hot muffin with a touch of butter, but these are great on their own, too. I will be making this recipe for years to come. Thank you!

Authentic Mexican Tortillas

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2010
These are not authentic at all! Like other reviews said, it tastes a lot like a pie crust and are a bit on the non-pliable side-even when heated over the flame of the stove. I went and read Jamie's (recipe submitter) DRASTIC changes to this recipe since she said the original recipe submission wasnt given much thought as far as the measurements go, with the 1/3 C. of shortening she says to use instead of 3/4 C., they tasted like pie crust and I cant imagine 3/4 C. shortening being any better. Normally I dont give low reviews but I was really disappointed with this one. It's gets a star for effort, but my search continues.

Portabella Burgers with Avocado Spread

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2010
Wow! I gave this recipe 5 stars because we're HUGE hamburger fans and would never in a million years have thought we'd eat a meatless burger, however this was EXCELLENT!!! The portabellas are delicious! Only things I did differently (after trying the original recipe first, of course) was that I used 1 tbsp. mayo & 1tbsp. yogurt, added a splash (really, just a small splash) of soy sauce in place of the salt for added flavor. Also, I marinated the mushrooms in just a bit of dressing first. And I have to tell you, I found myself surprised that I wasnt missing the meat with this one. My picky never-eat-a-meatless burger husband totally changed his tune and asked for this twice in one week! Thank you for the recipe! It will be a regular! :-)

Cinnamon Apple Syrup

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2010
This was really good. I gave only four stars cause I too thought the cinnamon was a bit much-and we eat cinnamon like it's going out of style, but I took suggestions from other viewers to use 1 tsp. and it was perfect. My husband loved this recipe and we will be using it again-thank you for sharing!

Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2010
This was wonderful!!!! The only thing I did was added garlic when I was sauteing 1/2 the onions with the chicken. Also, I used less of the teriyaki sauce just to keep the sodium lower. I usually dont like chicken breasts but this is FABULOUS and I will surely put this into my regular rotation! Thank you!

Guam Fried Rice

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2010
I'm Guamanian & our family comes from Guam, so it was a nice surprise to see one of the rices listed on this site. I've been making fried rice all my life and have never fed it to anyone who didnt die for the recipe. A few tips though: before you cook your rice, wash it a few time to get the extra starch off, this will also help it from becoming mushy. The best thing is to use leftover rice you've cooked the night before. IT TRULY TAKES THE TASTE TO ANOTHER LEVEL, TRUST ME!!! Also, we omit the snow peas and carrots and add slice white onion, and 2 -3 FRIED SCRAMBLED EGGS. You wont believe the flavor!!! Thank you Christine for rep.'n Guam in this recipe. Hafa Adai!!

These weren't bad, nice and fluffy. However, I followed the recipe and they seemed a bit sweet for my husband and I, sort of cake-like. Thank you for sharing, but my search for the perfect recipe for my personal taste continues...

Cottage Cheese Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2010
What can I say, these were excellent!! I'm usually a skeptic when it comes to chicken enchiladas in red sauce, not to mention the addition of the cottage cheese was a bit unusual...but I tried the recipe exactlly AS-IS with no changes and IT WAS DEFINATELY ONE OF THE BEST ENCHILADAS i'VE HAD!!! Thank you so much for the recipe, you have a house FULL of fans in this keeper!!!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2010
I was looking for a brownie recipe and this was perfect! One thing though, I didnt have any cocoa powder so I used chocolate chips instead and then cut the sugar to 3/4 C. I probably could have even cut it to only a half cup. Either way, they were sweet, chocolatey and VERY rich!!!! This one's a keeper. Thanks :-)

Tasty Tuna Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2010
Not bad at all...I must admit I was skeptical because when it comes to burgers, nothing beats MEAT!!! But this was a nice surprise, I didnt refrigerate it first and I didnt hve any crumbling problems. I did use only the one can of tuna and it was definately enough without sacrificing taste of the tuna. My husband used to eat something like this when he was kid but used to eat it with melted cheese on top. Next time I think I will try it that way too, but they DO make a tasty burger. Thank you for the recipe.
