About this Cook
I'm a working Mom that goes to school. I'm an Early Childhood Education major that still loves to cook.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are things that remind me of my grandmother and mother. Red Rice and Fish, broiled Red Wine Steak, cornbread and beef stew.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year for Thanksgiving I made something traditional and non traditional, that has become a tradition. : ) Peach Cobbler or Upside Down Pinapple cake and Honey BBQ or Buffalo Wings.
My cooking triumphs
I love to cook, but it's slowed down since I had my daughter. But for a little while I started a local catering business. Very local. Some neighbors, friends and business owners order their lunches and dinners from me on Wed, Thurs and Friday. It was great fun!
My cooking tragedies
One Thanksgiving I made a peach cobbler and it turned out terrible. I had made them before wonderfully, but on Thanksgiving of all days it messed up. My cousins never let me forget it. They still call it a peach slurpee and say they needed a straw. : (

Simple White Cake
The cake was definitely moist. I chose to add buttermilk the remaining milk to the batter. the 1/2 cup of milk that it is called for is surely not enough. I used the creamy chocolate frosting recipe from this site and it was great.

All American Apple Pie
I was scared going into to this because I've messed up many a crust in my day. But this is a fool proof crust. I chose to double the crust recipe because I like a thick bottom crust and more crust to come up the side of the pan and create the wedges. Once all the ingridients are laid out the crust is together and ready for the pie pan in less than three minutes. The filling is perfect, I didn't change a thing. DELICIOUS!
