Irresistible Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2011
Ok, don't get me wrong...this is really good bread. BUT NOT traditional Irish Soda Bread. Even my 8 year old said, "This is too fluffy, I wanted to make the heavy bread we had at the Irish restaurant."

Cinnamon Sweet Potato Chips

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2010
This recipe was easy & tasty enough, but I can't give it more than 3 stars because the chips never got crispy. I even used a food processor to slice them evenly, baked, then broiled them.

Spinach Balls

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2010
Super easy & very good...but using that much butter and the high sodium kind of negates the healthy spinach. If I were to make them again I'd use 2 packs of spinach & cut the butter to 1/4 cup. They are dry, so marinara sauce is a plus.

Apple Butter I

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2009
WAY TOO SWEET, even on plain biscuits! I used 3 cups of sugar (1.5 white/1.5 brown) & nearly two bags of apples. I did like the simplicity of the recipe & the smell that filled my house.

Marble Swirl Pound Cake

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
I wanted to use up some cake flour, and decided on this recipe. The batter was better than the cake. The finished product was a bit dry even with the decreased amount of flour. Average at best.

Honey Butter Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2009
Really good! I only used 1 cup of sugar & the bread was still really sweet. You can definitely taste the honey. TIP: if you use a dark pan reduce the oven temp to 325. At 350 for 1 hour, I used one glass (came out perfect) & one metal (burned!) so adjust accordingly.

Lemon Poppy Seed Bundt Cake

I give this recipe 4 stars as is. If you add a glaze then it's definitely a 5 star recipe...especially since it is so easy.

Lite Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
I really don't like when people give recipes 5 stars & then change everything about that recipe in their review! I'm giving this a 3 star rating based on making with no changes...I thought the consistency was a little weird, bu the the taste was okay. I'll give it the kid test, but I didn't think it was all that great.

Lemon Poppy Seed Amish Friendship Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2009
I substituted lemon extract for the vanilla, but otherwise did not change the recipe at all. I baked it in a bundt pan & topped it with the lemon glaze from the "lemon lover's pound cake" recipe found at this site. Wonderful!

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies III

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2009
10 TIMES BETTER THAN GIRL SCOUT COOKIES! I made these over the holidays & they were a HUGE HIT. We just picked up my daughter's Girl Scout cookies & I opened a box to compare...GS's are dry & hard (blah.) These are super soft & the cream melts in your mouth. They are my new favorite cookie & that's saying alot since there is no chocolate in them. TIP: Use a 1 1/4" mini ice cream scoop to make smaller cookies. That way when you sandwich them you get more per batch. Be generous with the filling too!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2008
REALLY DISAPPOINTING =( I used 6 Granny Smith apples & 3 Red Delicious (other reviewer rec. so it would be sweet & not too tart) & cooked it for 50 min. at 350 after the 15 at 425 (another rev. rec.) & it turned out soupy & the apples were mushy.

Venison Bacon Burgers

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
When my dad used to make us eat venison when we were growing up, my siblings & I hated it. A friend gave us some ground venison & allrecipes.com did not let me down. These were easily as good as any beef burger I've had, & best of all my kids ate it without hesitation. Thanks!

Filet with a Merlot Sauce

My husband & I both agree that while the sauce was good, it was very salty. I don't think it was worth the effort...Next time we'll just drink the bottle of wine!

Curried Coconut Chicken

Really good! I added one potato diced into tiny bite size pieces, & a cup of frozen petite peas to make a complete all in one dish. I was shocked that my 5 year old & her friend both ate it, as well as my husband who claims he doesn't like Indian food.

Sorry, we did not care for this. It turned out gooey & bland...maybe I should have kept baking it beyond an hour??? I'm sticking to the Brown Sugar Meatloaf recipe from this site.

I'll give you that it was easy, but it just tasted like really sweet ketchup to me. I added a bit of onion powder to cut the sweetness.

Tasty Lemonade

Reviewed: May 21, 2008
It tastes very good, but my 5 year old wanted to know why it was "brownish". Next time I would probably use 1/2 brown sugar & 1/2 white sugar. I dissolved the sugar with a half cup of hot water & then added lots of ice.

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: May 7, 2008
ALWAYS A HIT! I have made this countless times now & it is great for big gatherings. I use a 5-6# pork loin & 1 can of low sodium beef broth...that's it! No coffe, no S&P, no browning it first. When it's ready to be shredded (about 8 hours on low) take the meat out & pour the liquid through a strainer to remove some of the fat. Once you shred the meat, put it back in the slow cooker and add a little of the juices back to keep it moist. I usually keep the BBQ sauce on the side, but I have added it at the end a few times too.
