Rhubarb Stir Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2007
This was yummy. The only thing I did different was to use 1/2 sour cream and 1/2 yogurt (that is what I had). I also mixed the sugar with cinnamon and nutmeg and about 2 T. of butter then sprinkled it over the top. I also waited a day to eat it. It was moist and very, very good served with real whip cream. This made the favorite box.

Pasta Primavera with Italian Turkey Sausage

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2007
This was really good. It has a light fresh taste and is so pretty to serve. The only change I made was to use regular hot italian sausage instead of the turkey (mostly because I couldn't find any turkey sausage). I made this for my guy, who never eats vegetables and he had three plates full!!!! Note, this makes a lot so cut in half or you get to eat it for days...which isn't bad either, because the flavor gets better and better. Thanks for this one, it's a keeper.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2007
This is really, really good. I made this after work one night and it was fast and easy and oh so good. The only thing I did different was to use half/half Instead of the heavy cream and I topped it with fresh chives from my garden. I Served it with rice, steamed broccoli and cranberries for an amazing beautiful meal. The sauce is very good and next time I might add some mushrooms to it. Oh, yes there will be many more times for this one. Thank you for this one.

Classic Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2007
It's not bad, it just doesn't taste like much of anything except sweet mayo and macaroni. By all means reduce the sugar because if you don't the sugar will be all that you taste and for me that was way too much.

Grilled Salmon II

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2007
This is very good. I made this as directed but only marrinated it for a couple hours because I couldn't wait any longer. This will be awesome when my patience if better. I would however double the marrinade, then after the fish is done marrinating, I would thicken this on the stove and serve it drizzled over the fish after cooking. I really believe that people who don't like salmon over cook it. Mine turned out moist and oh so good. Thanks for a fantastic meal.

Green Tomato Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2007
This is a good recipe. I made it exactly as directed except I used 1 cup of white sugar and 1 cup of brown sugar because that is what I had. I would recommend that the tomato's be grated instead of chopped. I found some really big chewy pieces in my cake and it would be better if they were not there. If you like carrot cake or zuchini cake, you will like this cake. An excellent way to use up those green tomato's. Thanks for this one.

Classy Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2007
How good was this....very!! I followed the recipe pretty close but used broccoli instead of the zucchini and I used sun dried tomatoes in oil (which was actually a bread dip condiment) Sometimes you just have to make do with what you have. I was a little worried about the mustard and the dill but go for it, it's fantastic. I could have eaten the gravy with a spoon it was so good. It looks beautiful on the platter, served it with mashed potatoes and cranberries. I try lots of recipes and now only keep the ones that rate 5 stars...

Baked Ziti IV

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2007
This is really good. I made the recipe as directed except I used hot italian sausage because I like the spice. This makes a lot so I prepared one 8 x 8 pan to eat and the other to freeze for another day. Also, I layered it differently, I started with the meat sauce, then 1/2 of the noodles, then I mixed the sour cream and the cottage cheese together and put all of that on top of the noodles, then cheese, then more meat sauce, noodles and top with cheese. This is comfort food at it's best and worth the extra hour in the gym to wear it off.

Autumn Spice Ham Steak

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2007
This is easy to make, looks beautiful and tastes delicious. What more could you ask for. I used real maple syrup and I peeled the apples because no one in my family likes the peel. I thought this might be really sweet, but it was perfect, I will make this again and again. Thanks for a really good meal.

Egg Salad Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
Absolutely the best egg salad I have ever had. Tons of flavor. The only thing I did different was to add chives instead of the onion and that is mostly because I love onion, but it doesn't love me!! Really good, try it.

Wow, excellent. The only thing I did different was to add red grapes as well as the cranberries and I toasted the nuts. I have never been a big fan of chicken salad...that is until now.

House Fried Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2008
Good and a nice way to use up the left overs. I made this exactly as directed. Next time however, I would add more garlic and some hot pepper flakes, to up the flavor just a little more. The best part is that you could use any left over's that you have on hand. Even better the second day.

Artichoke Chicken

Reviewed: May 19, 2008
Ok, I have tried this recipe twice, because of all the good ratings, because I love artichoke dip and I really wanted to like this dish because it looked fast and easy. Once, exactly as written and once, using the suggestions of others (ie: marinated artichokes, half sour cream half mayo, garlic). The way it's written is bland and the suggested way is not that good either. The marinated artichokes give the chicken a sour taste. Plus, no matter how long you drain the artichokes you end up with the chicken swimming in liquid. It also did not brown on top and just did not look appealing to the eye. I would not make this dish again.

Balsamic Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2008
I really wanted to like these more then I did. They smelled fantastic while cooking but kinda blah in taste for me. They need something more, perhaps some red pepper to kick them up a notch. My significant other, didn't like them at all. Perhaps some tweaking and this will be something for when the other isn't around.

Imitation Crab Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2009
This salad is delicious. Made exactly as directed and it was perfect, I would not change a thing. I think the sour dough bread adds a nice texture and flavor to this salad so I would not leave it out. Going in the keeper box. Thanks for posting.

Green Grape Salad

Very good. I too used both green and red grapes for eye appeal. Something different to serve up and everyone loved it. I made extra sugar/nuts and then sprinkled the extra over the top for more eye appeal.

Quinoa and Black Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2009
First time trying Quinoa and who knew there were so many varieties. I liked this dish, it's different, looks pretty and tastes good, just looks kinda weird. I did reduce the beans to 1 can and add a can of tomatoes with chilies. Nice and spicy as written. Makes a nice lunch.

Shrimp and Feta Cheese Pasta

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
Very good, I loved it. Only thing I did different was to up the wine to 1/2 cup and use a can of fire roasted tomatoes. Makes a little more sauce this way. I also used a garlic, herb feta cheese and would use that again. Very tasty, its a keeper. Thanks for posting this one.

Indian Pudding

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2009
I really didn't think I would like this, but I had this cornmeal to use up and gave it a try. Go ahead try it, it is very good and perfect for the fall. Excellent with whipping cream or cinnamon flavored ice cream. I did add about 1/2 to 1 tsp. of ginger to the mix.
