Meat-Lover's Slow Cooker Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2014
I made this recipe for a diabetic family, and I left out the sugar. I also used organic tomatoes (paste, sauce, stewed and diced), organic sausage and organic sweet/yellow onion. I added a ton of organic white cap mushrooms and this was awesome! My Aunt was surprised that it tasted a little sweet since she knew I was leaving out the sugar. I do not see a reason or flavor purpose for the olive oil and therefore left that out as well. The onions will sauté in the grease from the sausage just fine. I just started my sausage first and added the onions once there was juice in the skillet.

Pinto Bean and Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2012
Poor time directions. Directions followed directly and the beans were far from done after 2 hours of simmering. Transferred the entire pot to the crockpot as other reviews suggested and after 8 hours on low, they were done. The flavor was really good. The receipe as written is a huge amount. It's just my self and my husband and we were able to have it for dinner and a few lunches with enough to freeze for later.

Pan-Fried Steak with Marsala Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
I enjoyed this recipe. Did not use chuck steak, but rather a round cut. Used beef broth instead of chicken broth and complete forgot to buy rosemary so I used dried italian seasoning. I added both sweet onion and shallots with the garlic. The flavor was spectacular. I do prefer a sauce that is thicker and I think next time will add cornstarch to the beef broth before adding it to the mixture so that it is less of something that just runs off the plate. Otherwise - awesome!

Vegetable Cheese Soup I

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2010
Good base recipe. Some ideas I liked were, garlic, chicken, broccoli, red bell pepper, green onion, and frozen corn rather than canned corn. Came out excellent, with extra shredded cheese to thicken up! Thanks so much for this recipe.

Easy Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
I usually make this in a square baking dish because I like to layer it. I also like a little vegi in mine, so I add a cup or so of peas or corn. I also prefer egg noodles to macaroni. My hubby likes more meat, so I add an additional can of tuna, he also loves the French fried onions, so I hide some by splitting the filling into 2 parts and put the FFO and some cheese in the middle. Excellent recipe! Very adaptable! Thank you!

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2009
This was absolutely excellent. I used cream of mushroom soup with roasted garlic. Added minced garlic to the soup. (We like our garlic) I didnt have any celery, but it still came out so tasty, fall apart and goooood! Even the carrots and potatoes were done but not mush. We poured a little of soup and meat juice mixture over it. Serve with crossiants or biscuits.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2009
This was absolutely AWESOME! I used Jack Daniels Hickory Honey BBQ sauce. I thought shredding it would be difficult, but I just put a chunk of cooked chicken on a cutting board and used a fork in each hand to pull it apart. My husband likes onions, so I added a 1/3 cup chopped onion about 45 minutes before we ate. Served over potatos with cheese and onion, topped with sour cream. I cant wait to try this on hoagie rolls, or hamburger buns. Mmmmm MMMM Awesome!! (and so easy)

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
I used a 2.5 lb. roast and cooked it on low for 7 hours. Probably about 3 hours too long. Very dry and well done. I'm going to try again though and reduce the time. Drippings made EXCELLENT GRAVY!! Served with garlic mashed potatoes and dill butter carrots.

Garlic Asparagus with Lime

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but it came out a little oily/buttery. It tasted excellent! I might try the steaming a little with chicken broth next time.

Baked Dijon Salmon

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
We dont like pecans and I forgot to get a lemon at the store. But even without those items, this recipe had us drooling. I used a creamy dijon style mustard. Wonderful recipe for fresh caught Alaskan Red salmon. Thanks from Alaska!

Sugar Snap Peas

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
I couldnt find kosher salt at the store. I used sea salt, and the fresh thyme and shallot. I think the salt flavored the peas more than the thyme and shallot did. Pretty good anyway. Thank you.
