About this Cook
Well I am only a 17 year old hispanic girl and already have a great passion for cooking! I'm not sure if I want to turn this passion into a career, but I am certain that I will be cooking for years to come. I really started to enjoy cooking while watching the Food Network and my favorite chef, Giada di Laurentiis cook Italian dishes. I began cooking more and more at home for my family and they really liked it! I am always online looking at different recipes and learning more about various cuisines. Recently I became a vegetarian and I'm finding it's even more exciting! I am also currently a highschool student in hopes of going to a university, starting a family, and traveling the world. I love music, taking pictures, animals, nature, and sleeping!
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking Italian dishes, Middle Eastern food, Indian, Latin, anything! Things like pasta, curries, beans, healthy foods, and of course veggies! I'm also trying to get better at cooking desserts and doughs from scratch.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Since my family is Cuban and Dominican, we cook a lot of rice, beans, plantains, seafood, chicken, pork, and beef. For Christmas, my favorite holiday, we make a huge entire roasted pork ("Puerco Asado") in this metal box surrounded by coals. I won't be eating this though since I'm a vegetarian! Sides include white rice, black beans, boiled yucca with sauteed garlic and onions, fried plantains, and salad.
My cooking triumphs
Chocolate chip cookies from scratch, lentils, salmon, beans, pasta dishes, thai food, lasagna, rice, spanish frittata, doughnuts, biscotti, pizza, chocolate cake, and obviously more that I can't remember right now!
My cooking tragedies
Actually everthing I've made so far has been pretty much edible!

The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie
These cookies actually came out really good. I admit they probably aren't as good as cookies made with butter, but I only had canola oil so I decided to make these. They came out crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I also didn't have almond extract so just used vanilla. I will probably make them again using more vanilla extract and chocolate chips.
